“My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.” I’m not affiliated with the NDP but Jack Layton’s timeless farewell letter to Canadians in August 2011 touched a nerve. 🇨🇦

Trump added $12.5T to the debt in one term—over a third of all U.S. debt racked up by 44 other presidents combined. That’s not “fiscal conservatism,” it’s a demolition job on our future. #TrumpsWarOnOurEconomy

Prof. Justin Wolfers warns: a US president has never before threatened a Fed Chair with jail. It has happened in Argentina, Russia, Turkey and Venezuela. That's how strongmen crush institutions, torch currencies and trigger hyperinflation. This path ends badly.

It's New Year, so time to look back and forward. These are 10 things I think we need to recognise in 2026. It’s a response to what I think are profoundly damaging mistaken assumptions I’ve heard and read from practitioners, journalists, and analysts in 2025. Warning: very long🧵

Thank you @zainvelji.bsky.social. We need to talk about this in Ontario too.

ALBERTA: Bill 11 raises healthcare costs for everyone ⚠️. Families pay more out of pocket. Public wait times grow. Doctors move to private clinics. The public system gets weaker. Watch our 3 minute video below on what Bill 11 means for you and why we need to push back. Learn more: notwotier.ca

Did the United States really spend trillions of dollars on winning the Cold War, only for its president in 2025 take orders from a Russian dictator? This is an earth-shattering humiliation for America of which its reputation may never recover.

They got caught. They’re backing down. But this isn’t over. There needs to be a class action lawsuit. Instacart admitted it was using AI to charge different people different prices for the exact same items. Algorithmic price gouging. That scam could cost a family of four $1,200 more a year.

So, to recap, Ukraine and Europe understand that America has effectively endorsed a 28-point plan to force Kyiv to capitulate, set a Thursday deadline to accept it, and threatened to cut off all aid. Now Marco Rubio says it's all wrong, that's not the plan, there's no deadline and no threat.

Tonight, the House of Commons has voted to pass Budget 2025. It’s time to work together to deliver on this plan — to protect our communities, empower Canadians with new opportunities, and build Canada strong.

Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year. UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year. Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M. This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

I just don’t see how we can pretend even for a moment that anything involving our federal government is remotely normal when the president is covering up his involvement in a child sex trafficking ring. Like, what are we doing here

For those interested in the truth.

There’s a lot of confusion circulating on industrial carbon pricing and food prices in Canada. Our fact sheet lays out why this cost-effective policy has essentially no impact on the price of groceries and other products. Here’s a short 🧵 climateinstitute.ca/news/fact-sh...

Ontarians know a conflict of interest when they see one. A low-scoring, late applicant still got millions from the Skills Development Fund after donating $10K to the Conservatives. $2.5 billion in taxpayer dollars, and this Minister can’t say how many full-time jobs it created.

“…they became a symbol of perseverance, a symbol of the power that resides in the collective will over the individual accomplishment.” Vive le Blue Jays. Vive le Canada!🇨🇦
