The president is admitting that it's a partisan event here, so it shouldn't be getting any more federal funding. He can pay for it himself.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on musical acts who pulled out of his allegedly nonpartisan Freedom 250 fiasco: "A couple of them said, 'We don't want anything that's partisan.' I said, 'That's okay. Go someplace else.'"

Tulsa King is so fascinating: Originally called "Kansas City King" but changed to take advantage of new Oklahoma tax credit Immediately ditched Oklahoma for Atlanta for S2-S4 Spin off Series set in New Orleans relocated to Texas for new tax credit Season 5 set in NYC because of new tax credit

6 months in and we have a fake emergency to void due precess for immigrants, a fake emergency to allow for tariffs with impunity, and now a fake emergency to allow for martial law in our captial. What's coming next is terrifying.

Ah yes, because elites want to spend the rest of their lives isolated and eating MREs. Sure. Gabbard is an idiot and a shill.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

DNI Tulsi Gabbard repeats Putin’s talking points today, releasing an unhinged video where she claims that “political elites” want a nuclear war with Russia because they have sophisticated bomb shelters that will help them survive it.

Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He's a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.

Everyone should say it: The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism. Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that's not what's interesting about Miller. It's not brains. It's bile.

The old Soviet Union fell in large part due to the dearth of expertise in their bureaucracy, as they placed higher value on loyalty and punished any sort of criticism or dissent, regardless of competence. Nepotism or party loyalty became the key factor in hiring.

This is scary and highlights something that's painfully obvious in DC: smart people either don't want to work in this administration or are being turned away. But effective government - especially when crisis strikes - depends on having smart people around. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Normally I would ignore such faux pas, but Trump and his sycophants kicked down the door with their disdain of Zelenskyy’s outfit, so it is fair game to call out the President’s disrespectful attire.

Of course Trump is the only jackass wearing a blue suit and blue tie to a funeral when they asked people to wear dark suits and black ties….such an embarrassment

BREAKING: Liberty

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

BREAKING: A federal judge says the Trump admin deported a two-year-old U.S. citizen to Honduras with "no meaningful process" — even as the child's father was frantically petitioning the courts to keep her in the country.

And the end goal here is actually to implement even more AI and less human control.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

An underrated factor in how we got ourselves into this mess is that Americans are increasingly relying on computers and the internet instead of their own critical thinking faculties (AI is making this even worse), and as a result are uninformed and easy to manipulate.

The worst thing about this full quote is that the army of millions of humans is supposed to transform to an army of robots in the US - which is something that could happen regardless of any tariffs.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Lutnick: "The army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little screws to make iPhones -- that kind of thing is going to come to America."

Blackstone: “It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer.” Watters/Gutfeld: "Nah. He's just a gay barber, so screw that guy."

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

WATTERS: You've been talking about this gay barber from El Salvador with some stupid tattoo for weeks. Weeks, Jessica. It's just a gay barber. GUTFELD: He's not into you.

How fucking out of touch is this administration? Holy shit!

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick: "Let's say Social Security didn't send out their checks this month, my mother-in-law wouldn't call and complain. She just wouldn't."

Newt Gingrich says the "McKinley Model" requires high tariffs over a three-year transition period. Notable: Three years after the 1890 McKinley tariff, the economy had fallen into a severe depression. The GDP shrank by 10% and unemployment hit 18%. Certainly not the economic model I'd be copying. 😳

All my life I have studied democratization and autocratization. My 1st field trip was to newly democratic Argentina. I then added autocracies to my portfolio: Cuba, Ven, etc. I think I can recognize the stages of transition to authoritarianism. Here are the boxes Trump has already checked off.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: an administration (and its supporters) who believe that they are not limited by the rule of law have no moral or philosophical claim to the protection of the rule of law. “The law is whatever we say it is” warrants the same in response.

I sense a “special military operation” coming soon. Need to dig up the Trump quote about how “genius” Putin was for simply declaring that Russia was “annexing” sections of Ukraine.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on Canada: "I spoke to Governor Trudeau ... they don't have military protection, and you take a look at what's going on out there ... people are in danger ... they need our protection."

Capitulation it is, then.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hegseth: "We must start by recognizing that returning to Ukraine's pre-2014 borders is an unrealistic objective ... the US does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement."

We all like to yell at the Democrats, but it’s really Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune who are letting Elon Musk and his faceless goon squad make a mockery of their power as leaders of a coequal branch without uttering a peep or lifting a finger.

I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad. There’s not.
