RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Convening a focus group of 30 people who have no idea what's going on and no expertise on basically any topic and just turning them loose. "Fuck me up," I tell them. "Just give me all the dumbest stuff you've got."

The easiest way to get a big scoop in journalism is to straight-up steal it from @marisakabas.bsky.social, as we've seen over and over from "respectable" outlets.

Josh Sternberg@joshsternberg.com

It's disheartening to see the largest publications in the nation not cite original reporting from independent/individual reporters. Not one mention of @marisakabas.bsky.social's work in ID'ing Tommy. Instead, the WSJ implies that Tommy came forward himself. Disingenuous, at best.

The best cure for ideological bias is find someone on the other side and go to lunch with them.⁣ ⁣ Sometimes we disagree about facts. Sometimes we disagree about values. Figuring out which is which is fun part. https://newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/my-libertarian-friends-were-right

Here's a piece I'm really excited to roll out: An in-depth interview with Dropout's Sam Reich, diving deep on the game design of Game Changer season 8. Do I make a parody of myself by bringing up the concept of "the magic circle"? Oh baby, you bet I do. avclub.com/game-changer...

avclub.com“We really aren’t control of that dial”: Sam Reich on designing the games of Game Changer season 8The Dropout CEO on encouraging competition in his players and the ways he stops himself from turning into Mr. Beast.

I’m sorry, what? This piece was not a joint publication/ reporting job (as some are). It was @propublica’s alone and the Times followed with a summary. This is so indicative of NYT. If they don’t ignore proper credit, they just go for stolen valor.

I cannot convince myself to believe AI is inevitable and dangerous to society if the people saying that understand the world so little that they think governments are going to plan for UBI. Just say we should start building cloud cities. And I support UBI!

hailey@hailey.at

its extremely concerning that people are still so entirely blinded by "no it cant" attitudes rather than preparing for what is coming. we should have had a UBI plan figured out last year, but its this year now and theres no better time to figure it out than now

Driving through the Midwest on 9/11, the only unity were cars backed up all the way to the off-ramp entrances, every gas station choked with people terrified we’d lose access to oil. People cared only about themselves and their needs by the afternoon.

President Donald Trump pledged to send every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections. The promise, made at the GOP's midterm convention in Dallas, could cost over $1 trillion and would require congressional approval.

I like how this guy is offloading his work to AI so he can publicly get dumber each day.

NEW: Nate Hochman was fired from the DeSantis campaign in 2023 after promoting a video with the Sonnenrad, a Nazi symbol embraced by white supremacists. He now works in Rubio's State Department, as deputy director of policy planning and chief speechwriter. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2026/09/06/u...

“We need to teach our kids how to use AI” makes no sense because it’s an explicit offloading of thought and work. I didn’t need to take a class in dishwasher.

There's no forgiving this. No living it down. It's a stain on our humanity. When all this is over, the monsters who did this should be pariahs. And the soulless thugs who cheered it on while dehumanizing Haitian immigrants should be reminded of what they did every day of their lives.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

The situation in Haiti is terrifying. On Sunday, 150 gunmen swept down on a town to kill, rape, loot, and burn. 22 people were executed in a churchyard. 52 were taken hostage. Stephen Miller mockingly says Haiti is safe and ICE just sent its second deportation flight this month; with kids on board.

One you might find surprising. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt & members of her team have been extremely helpful in responding to questions I raise. Regardless of public facing commentary, privately they are willing to engage and address questions. And I have appreciated that. Thank you
