The full cast audio drama I wrote and directed is now available for streaming on major platforms. Excited to see how people respond.

I trained my parrot to say it has human level intelligence and should be allowed to represent me in a court of law. So obviously give that bird a bar exam pronto, he's got places to be.

LLM agents are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.

Character AI was probably one of the more viable profit models for LLM chatbots btw. Accuracy and hallucinations don't matter, all it has to do is sound kinda like the character, and there's a high propensity for users developing addictive behavior. This is the canary, and it's dead.

The company said the platform, where users can have one-on-one conversations and roleplay with AI characters, became “costly to develop and grow,” in filings to the Delaware District bankruptcy court. ---> by CJ Haddad @cnbc.com www.cnbc.com/2026/10/13/c...

Deep Blue (kinda) beat Kasperov at chess almost half a century ago. didn't stop or even slow down the hobby. If anything chess now is bigger than it's even been.

I can't stop thinking how wrong the tech bros have understood creativity and creators. Or even just having hobbies. #erliart

We're about to see some of the goofiest alt future bullshit even put to paper, only issue is the fuckers in charge are going to take it seriously.

This post is unavailable.

Even in the current epoch of generative AI, a human artist can still make a much more unique image for a client at a relatively affordable price. The only thing someone really needs to go to a chatbot for is art that a human would refuse to make for legal or moral reasons.

People (me included) really need to internalize that photographs aren't real. They never were. They carry such a tiny snapshot of time that your understanding of what's going on is going to be colored entirely by your own biases, the context of the photo will be lost unless it is actively conveyed.

A photograph has all the reality of a cartoon. If you intentionally compose a cartoon to be accurate, it will be accurate, but you can compose it any way you like. The only difference with a photograph is that your composition is about finding the right moment instead of drawing it.

The DotCom boom is the one people have pointed to, but the DotCom bubble was based on the demonstrable, profitable utility of website. The demonstrable, profitable utility of AI has yet to be demonstrated outside of niche academic applications and horrible crimes.

Fuck ups like this really underscores why DEI programs are important. If you're a big company some of your employees/contracts are gonna be racist, others are gonna be plain dumb. The only way to stop them from doing shit like this ad is to actively work against it, that was what DEI was for.

As a long, long, long, long, long time Converse buyer, I will never buy a Converse product ever again. I am sick of the virtue signalling to racists. I see this and I see a man hanged, a white robe that could be a klansman's robe and light shaped like a KKK hat. What the actual hell!?!

If my great-great-grandfather hadn't immigrated to New York City when he was a "young fighting age man", myself and the rest of my family simply wouldn't exist.

Otto English@ottoenglish.bsky.social

I'm not surprised but I'm truly disgusted that this narrative of "dangerous fighting age men posing a threat to women and children" is genuinely doing the rounds on the media with almost no push back at all. This is 1930s level stuff.

The OG Nazi strategy is to slowly work your way in from the outermost fringes of society, targeting ever-larger groups until all that's left is the hegemony, and a disperate mass of wretches the hegemons can casually crush underfoot. Giving up on trans folks nets neo-fascists a win in this goal

Paul F. Tompkins@pftompkins.bsky.social

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

We can already see this happening with the slight fall-off of support for gay marriage that's happened in the past couple of years. Allowing them victories emboldens them, and allows them to apply all the same tactics to the next largest group with momentum at their back

The converse is to force fascists to expend years of time and energy trying to take down the fringest groups in society. This is the winning strategy, you not only defend people in doing so, but you can isolate the fascists rethorically by painting them as freaks for attacking such a small group.

Show me a comic page you love, no explanation needed. Okay a little explanation: Reach Heaven Through Violence

My YT channel has always been a mess of whatever crap I happened to be working on at the time, it still is but now I've got it all in niche specific playlists.

Trump: "Right after the election oil prices are gonna be tumbling downward ... we'll them below $2 a gallon" 😆

This kind of thing is the only true utility of AI image generation, stuff that is too disgusting, reprehensible, or illegal to be worthwhile to create manually. Slop farmers can pump it out quickly, anon-post it to its tiny audience, grift some cash and get out as the ban hammer comes down.

NEW: In one of the most horrifying stories I've ever reported, I found that Facebook is hosting huge quantities of AI-generated videos of violent child abuse -- kids being beaten, burned, and far more But the genuinely shocking thing was how little Meta seems to care futurism.com/artificial-i...

Werner is the king of putting things very succinctly in the downright strangest way possible, and this is a prime example.

If you see anyone calling Mamdani's role at the memorial on Friday divisive, you can just hit 'em with "every NYC mayor up until now has been covering up the full extent of the toxic pollution from the attack. Mamdani dismantled the coverup, letting victims get access to the healthcare they need."

I know that's what you said but that's lame. There are no rules, all that matters is the quality of the execution. You can have a medival fantasy where the knights ride around on Harley Davidson motorcycles. If you pull it off right it'll be sick as fuck.

Qsy@qsy.bsky.social

People need to actually read what I say but like tl;dr Guns in medieval fantasy isn't "there are no rules do what your heart tells you plus it's cool", guns in medieval fantasy should be the fucking baseline. They existed. They were used. You have to justify their omission not their inclusion.

there are so many writers who suffer from this. You can actually do anything. There are no rules, the only thing that matters is how you execute it.

Qsy@qsy.bsky.social

Also "modern fantasy is made by people who only learn from fantasy" is why people can't conceive of firearms in medieval fantasy settings, or imagine it has to be flintlock weapons, but also don't mind rapiers.

Just binged all of the new Ghost in the Shell, series. Chief take away: 1. The 1995 movie was really good but it did starve us of Chaotic Goblin Major, glad that's fixed. 2. My seering hatred for the Scarjo abomination is now more irredescent than ever. 3. Neaurolink is bad. We shouldn't do that.

Finally started the new Ghost in the Shell tonight. There's something so potent about how anime like GiTS or Akira handle in-world politics. They don't try and dumb things down, instead they lean into the chaos of it all. You can't always follow what's happening but that feels real.

These silicone valley guys will literally just say things. Like actually just speak words.
