Trade and geopolitical strategist. I’ve helped businesses take on the world, avoid getting punched in the face, and seen how the policy sausage gets made. Often called a bot because I make more sense than most.

The polls in Toronto weren’t wrong. They just have different methodologies. Some apparently count all of the votes Tobi thinks he should have.

Olivia Chow received more votes in a SINGLE election that Pollievre and Carney have in the political lifetimes combined. Chow 2026: 532,201 Pollievre/Carney Lifetime: 375,309 #toronto #TorontoPolitics #election

This might as well be his confession.

“Flávio has given up,” a Bolsonaro family adviser told The Washington Post. “He’s terrified. He is worried his father will die in jail, that he himself will be jailed this week, and that he may have a long prison term ahead”

Toronto got it right. PHEW! OLIVIAAAAAAAA is proven Brad is a liar who was only going to support the donors NOT the People. Bravo, Toronto!

My general advice for using AI for any purpose is to ask yourself: "how do I make what I am doing even more ambitious?" You do this over and over until you either hit a wall and thus learn the shape of the jagged frontier (useful!) or you find out that the AI can do more than you think (common!)

It's October of 2026 and I'm still seeing people say that AI is useless because it's just a next token predictor. Have all the criticism you want. But if you haven't noticed what kind of things a "next token predictor" is capable of given the right harness, then you're not paying attention.

this sounds like basically nothing if you read into it. h/t to @vgel.me for a good take on it

I firmly believe that if your employer gives you a licence to an AI tool, and you aren’t hitting your usage limits routinely, you’re wasting a lot of time at work. For knowledge workers more so than that software folks. #AI #Claude #ChatGPT

Can someone explain to me why all you can see everything reviews don’t actually talk about the movie? But it said they talk about movie reviewers in the post streaming cinematic experience? What the hell is TikTok part of the conversation about a movie’s quality? #movies #youcanseeeverything

seems Anthropic has figured out how to make money

The unit economics here are frankly shocking they're so good. This is wildly stronger than I expected tbh.

Congrats to Serbia and the Student’s List. In the words of the great Lin Manual Miranda: Winning is easy, Governing is harder. It will be extremely hard to build the muscle of governing from scratch while also weaning the country off of Russia. #Serbia #election

I can appreciate that it takes a few weeks to get affairs in order, but anyone working for Meta by the end of the year does so knowing Meta actively pursues fascist outcomes. Not just at the margins, not just through the usual capitalist stuff, but by actively pulling on election levers.

Meanwhile, Americans dgaf about their own democracy

Meanwhile, pro-democracy, pro-Europe protesters in Tbilisi, Georgia, are tonight nearing their 700th consecutive day of protest against the pro-Russian government. They haven't missed a single day in the last 23 months.

Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

The space wars have officially begun. Regrettably the USA has a commanding lead. Expect major innovation in terrestrial communication technologies as countries seek to undermine this American advantage.

The fundamental reason that non-tech firms aren’t realizing revenue gains through AI is that a lack tech industry’s high productive capacity to actually integrate new technology and processes and then allocate the freed-up resources towards revenue, generating opportunities. #Ai #productivity

Removing abliterated models from Hugging Face will push them underground. A shadow market for uncensored AI models is the predictable consequence, potentially decentralizing through bad actors. #HuggingFace #OpenSourceAI #Abliteration #AISafety #LLM

Canada will have a brief boom around 2040 as the dependency ratio briefly declines. Meaning effectively, Canada will be saving on social services, and the working age population will grow… ish. That will be the biggest boom in GDP per capita for the foreseeable future.

Imagine driving on this obviously residential street in such a way that you turn left and hit a woman walking with five children Imagine being a person responsible for law enforcement and making excuses for that driver to the media

Truly shocking case of car brain at Durham Regional Police on display regarding the horrific case of a motorist and her vehicle striking a daycare teacher and five young children in Oshawa on Wednesday. www.cp24.com/local/durham...

Canadian life expectancy. Hip surgery. Lake Erie looks less like a frothy cauldron of despair. The killing power of GTA coyotes/wolf/dog hybrids… oh wait.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Global infant mortality. The feature/price ratio of a Honda civic. AIDS treatments. Diversity of excellent food in Toronto. Pixel density on televisions. The elimination of fluorescent lights.

I can’t respect American soldiers after Iraq because I need to assume every single one of them has enough information to know they will be asked to commit a war crime and/betray the US constitution. They know this, and sign up anyways. #warcrimes #army #navy #airforce

Honestly, the AI push book is overblown. The major firms need civilian babysitters, but people freaking out like we’re not going to have ART anymore are insane. Humans decide what Art is, regardless of how it’s made. If you don’t like AI art, but buy it. #AI #Art

We have to think about collapsing Trump poll numbers and Rs turning on him the same way we'd think about finally being able to corner a rabid raccoon in your garage. Good news: he's out of options. Bad news: he's a rabid raccoon.

😳 Trump loses it and SNAPS at a string of reporters, says Ilhan Omar might "go to jail," calls Somalia "a shit house," and boasts that thanks to a new program he announced today Americans "will make millions of dollars by turning others in" during absolutely deranged Oval Office event Supercut:

Hmmm. Where are we on the Gardner Hype Cycle for war? It’s going to get ugly folks. Also the ‘94 Rwandan genocide was absolutely a human being lawnmower… Humanity is getting really good at killing eachother again. #war #defenceindustry #russia #istandwithukraine

Kimberly Guilfoyle shows that all of us need to be doing a better job surfacing the not the corruption of Republicans (they openly brag about corruption), but about the hilarious incompetence of the officials. #corruption #greece #USA

Why do governments keep celebrating the number of B2B meetings they arrange when almost nobody can demonstrate how much additional business those meetings actually generate? #smallbusiness #export #internationaltrade
