This game is tremendously inspirational to me personally, as a testament to what a solo developer can do. It really captures the Ocarina of Time style atmosphere, but it's also very much doing its own thing (thank hell!).
REAL WEB LEGENDS: Carter's Quest Act 2 is NOW AVAILABLE!! My solo action-adventure game inspired by Zelda, DMC, and Bayonetta just got bigger. A FREE update to Carter's Quest, adding a whole new chapter to the story, massive graphical updates, and more. Available on Steam now!
I've updated my fighting game motion input trainer with indicators for the direction you're charging, and a move list! I've also added an Easter egg (a Geese egg?) for anyone trying out weird stuff. celialicious.itch.io/wave-motion-...

Angeline Era ($19.99) - one of 2025's very best. bumpslash combat attached to a story driven by a blend of Irish myth, Christian philosophy, and Japanese-American history that twists like a vine to grab at your heart and pull in deep, prodding your soul. store.steampowered.com/app/2393920/...

TMNT: Tactical Takedown ($12.99) - one of the fastest moving tactics games you've ever played, it feels like the genre is fused with the TMNT beat 'em ups by making it so you ALWAYS have to be moving forward, keeping the pace brisk. no wasted time here. store.steampowered.com/app/3229100/...

SHUT THE FUCK UP, HOLY SHIT IT'S REAL the essay deadass starts with "it is unknowable through what lens and mentality daisuke operated when he declared that bridget was a girl" i am going to Throw Up
I'll be honest, I've never really felt the same way about Death of the Author after learning its origins (Barthes was angry over a Balzac story about a chaser, written over a century prior, for referring to a character as a woman instead of a femboy no I'm not making this up)

lmao, got unfollowed by no less than 5 butthurt indie devs who just want to drive by and use my community to promote their generic as fuck game and never speak to us again. i can easily facilitate that.
Attention indie devs: if your "first time chat" is "hey play my demo" all that says to me is that you see my community as a billboard and each person in it as a potential dollar sign. come in, hang out, get to know us or get banned. i have a business email and rates if you want to make offers

generally fighting games with long combos are intending you to do the long combos, so they're made to be pretty straightforward. Games with short combos hate you personally and want to see you fail
don't let long combos put you off fighting games. long combos are easy. the hardest combos are like "5MP, 2MP > 214K". that's the real secret.

South of Midnight was the first time I saw my peers talk about the South as something beautiful and worth seeing. That game did something I didn't think was possible; it was a love letter to a region I believe we should fight for, and for once, my peers got to see the beauty and magic that I see.

The game did the work of honoring Southern culture, and the way that it is built on African folklore. It saw the language we use in the South, the superstitions we build our lives around and said that it is not only worthy, but it is thanks to Black people and culture that we have this beauty.
I just updated this to include citations from The Privilege of Play. I originally intended to cite it after reading exerpts online, but I couldn't find the book when it came time to write the article. I bought a copy of it in the GDC store when I was there! critpoints.net/2025/12/14/a...
