Building manager said someone is coming to handle this "ASAP", 18 hours after we told them about a structural water leak and a full two days after it started. Love to contractually pay other people for the privilege of being the most responsible adult in the room.

Returned home from a lovely weekend away to a leak in my apartment's ceiling. Frankly quite rude it couldn't wait a week to break apart, after I'd moved out.

A plumber came 'round, took one look at the ceiling and said, "Yeah, she's coming down." His partner entered directly after, whistled, and said "yeah, she's *fooked*." So, things are going well.

It turns out that, in addition to helpless landlords and evasive property managers, there is a third party to this circus: the building's council of directors who KNEW about this potential issue and denied previous quotes to fix the tanks! Guess who is now conveniently impossible to contact.

UK-based Osprey Games has let go of its entire board and card game development team and cancelled its booth at the upcoming Spiel Essen game fair - five months after parent company Bloomsbury began searching for a buyer for the operation: boardgamewire.com/index.php/20...

Rockstar has repeatedly alleged that a games journalist was a member of the union Discord, posing a significant threat to the company's security. This is something we've covered in our earlier reporting, but there's some interesting context that just got brought up in the tribunal regarding timing.

AI protections, RTO mandates, inadequate wages -- all corporate-owned creative workplaces are facing the same existential threats. Sure seems as though companies tolerate workers' human needs and requests for dignity only because it's cheaper. For now.

I spoke with two members of @uwotc-official.bsky.social's newest unions just after the publisher declined voluntary recognition. The workers are confident in the election's outcome but describe a culture of crunch and empty promises where those billions in revenue are never reinvested in people.

Just had my first session of group therapy, which is specifically geared towards low self esteem. Not sure yet if the structure works for me, but I've never isolated my self esteem/self-love issues from the soupy morass of mental health and neurodivergence.

I wouldn't describe myself as "having low self-esteem" if pressed, but now it seems like that could have been sublimated across a whole dang suite of behaviors and coping mechanisms: perfectionism, work ethic, denying myself joy, performing in friendships.

Howdy! Any union experts (preferably with tabletop knowledge as well) willing to pinch hit for a podcast recording today or tomorrow about the Wizards of the Coast unions? Shares appreciated! DM me or email: chase@rascal.news

We've solved today's podcast problem (thanks everyone who responded) but I am very interested in gathering more union perspectives over the coming weeks and months from the people recommended!

Spoke with two members of @uwotc-official.bsky.social's MTG Arena team who told me what supporting the D&D and MTG unions will look like: education, collaboration, and innoculation against propaganda. Also, apparently the union-avoidant messaging within WotC never really stopped.
