You mean to tell me… Red Sox swept 2-0 by the Yankees Yankees swept 3-0 by the Rays …and the Rays are now down 3-0 to the Brewers? Woof

This is addressing a symptom more than the underlying corruption, but have we seriously considered whether a unilateral pardon power is a good thing? I know it’s in the Constitution and all, but if we were to do serious constitutional reform?

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

My brain cannot process this level of corruption. She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee." And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...

Does arresting the wife of an enlisted man and mother of four US citizen children, a person who’s been here since she was 6 years old, make our country great again?

Nick Miroff@nickmiroff.bsky.social

NEW: ICE is trying to deport a mother of 4 while her husband is at Fort Benning in Army basic training. When she went to pick up the family's military IDs, Navy personnel turned her over to ICE. She's been in the US since age six. With @nancyayoussef.bsky.social www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

I, personally, would not go on the record with a reporter to announce I’m in favor of destroying the playground my kid is currently loving because I drive to work once a week (and the road still wouldn’t go there anyway), but everyone lives their lives differently I guess

The president threatening the entire nation of Norway because it didn’t give him a prize he wanted? A prize for peace, when he literally started a war that destabilized the world economy? A prize he thinks he deserves for WINNING wars (that he didn’t even actually win)?

it is going to be so funny watching San Francisco's spectacularly shitty AI billboards transform over the next few weeks into spectacularly shitty SI billboards because the people paying for them are somehow even lamer than we thought

Sling Passes (1, 3, weekend passes for $5-15) were such an underrated "hack" for watching sports, especially in the era of platform fragmentation. The cost to watch sports continues to go up. Not good!

The US Web Design System is load-bearing infrastructure for thousands of government websites. It makes it easy for small teams with no resources (i.e. most .gov teams) to make usable, accessible websites that work for everyone. Today, it's as close as it's ever been to being replaced with AI slop.

Just asked Victor Wembanyama if he’d ever consider promoting a sports betting company. “Absolutely not. I will never do that. Honestly, I think it's very sad to see some players promote it. .. Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”

Hard to believe we’re still, somehow, in the app phase of government service delivery? It’d be nice if, oh, we had a design system that helped agencies make accessible, mobile-friendly websites for all… we could even call it the U.S. Web Design System… fedscoop.com/irs-launches...

fedscoop.comIRS launches new mobile app for individual tax servicesUsers can check refund statuses, balance statements and more in the app that replaces IRS2Go and that the agency’s CEO says advances the IRS’s “digital-first agenda.”

This is dumb. The tradeoff is some smoke now so there’s not a lot of smoke later.

The Irish musicians, Beoga, who play alongside Ed Sheeran, have withdrawn from Sheeran’s tour. This is the statement they published on Instagram:

There are 103K+ people on the US organ transplant waiting list. In the past few years there has been sustained negative media and Congressional attention: lost organs, donor organs going unrecovered, untransplanted, or offered to someone other than the person at the top of the waiting list, etc.

Obviously not all of the decrease in AOOS can be attributed to Annie and Luke; there's a fantastic team at at HRSA and much of the work is the legacy of years (decades?) of advocacy, perhaps by no one more so than Jennifer Erickson. See this Statecraft piece: www.statecraft.pub/p/how-to-sto...

Two U.S. Digital Corps Fellows—Annie Tor and Luke Neureiter—spent the last few years supporting HRSA and increasing its ability to exercise effective oversight. Last August, HRSA published a public dashboard quantifying rates of organs allocated out of sequence... and now AOOS rates have *halved*.

You can read more and check out the dashboard in our recent USDC case study, which also covers how Annie and Luke helped HRSA in-house sensitive patient data from the control of an underperforming contractor, ensuring gov retains the ability to conduct oversight: digitalcorps.gsa.gov/projects/hrs...

New, from me — an oral history for @nytimes.com about the Yankees post-season after 9/11 and President Bush’s first pitch at Game Three of the World Series, which has always represented to me the peak of our shared national unity and patriotism (gift link) www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
