Wow, USPS is becoming Canada Post! Canadians have had fuel surcharges on all package rates for many years now. Even flat-rate items.

Update: After my story showed Muse could be used to endless hoard items through an "on hold" system, The RealReal says it's making it much harder for AI agents (not just Muse) to log in to the site, add items to carts, and check out. www.theverge.com/news/1018713...

This week I did something with AI that would truly annoy me if I were another shopper. I told Muse to add new items on The RealReal to my cart, putting them on hold for 20 mins. I told Muse to do it again and again as soon as the hold was up. This went on for hours, blocking anyone else from buying.

Here is my full post on the AI announcements from Etsy yesterday. TL;DR: there weren't many real changes, and they aren't going to be doing much to enforce the actual changes very soon. But sellers who have never used AI now have to do much more work 🤷 #EtsySellerNews

Etsy is strictly enforcing its Off Platforms Transactions Policy to punish almost any outside links in a list or shop (other than the About page) They are also explicitly mentioning complying with packaging laws & other producer legal requirements in the Legal Seller Policy #EtsySellerNews

So Etsy has clarified that they don't intend on enforcing the "unedited image" rule on old listings - only "as new listings are created" - other than by allowing buyers to win cases What is the point of having "legal policy" if it is not an actual requirement? #EtsySellerNews

Etsy has new AI & Image policies effective immediately, and I am working on a post going through the changes. Some of them are good! However, 1 is ridiculous: each listing must have one unedited - meaning not cropped, not resized, not brightened etc. - image effective immediately #EtsySellerNews

From a DM. Their daughters medical appointment at the Edmonton Childrens Hospital now includes 'prepay' amount, which is thankfully $0, but they wanted to give everyone a heads up about it showing up. They deal with a lot of medical appointments and have never seen it before. #Alberta #abpoli #yeg

This means that the increased price of RAM and consumer electronics was a result of an artificial "supply chain crisis" created by Jensen Huang pushing NVIDIA's customers to take early delivery of GPUs. Jensen Huang is responsible for making life worse for everyone.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.

The Alberta referendum reporting is taking so long we could have a whole other referendum about how we should speed up Alberta referendum reporting in the meanwhile.

No results until 10pm tonight, folks. Elections Alberta announces that 106 voting locations across the province have extended their hours today “due to various issues that have been resolved.” The last one closes at 10pm so no results will be released until that voting station closes.

SO cute!

#Art #Artists #SciArt - hey BlueSky - I’m considering deleting my meta accounts because I hate them and their AI. Twitter is long gone and this is the only other place I share my art besides by email to my Inner Circle - have any artists out there been able to survive doing this?

I tried cooking a bunch of food to cover up the low level skunk smell in my house. And now it smells like I got really high and made too many nachos. So success?

How did I end up following so many artists and photographers that aren't using alt text here? I am usually careful about that. Maybe they used alt text in the past but can't be bothered any more? Not sure if I should mention it, or just unfollow.

Milwaukee is a great town, I love it every time I’m there. Both my teams (Cubs and Dodgers, I’m a grown up and can have two teams if I want, sue me) are done, so I congratulate them on the excellent story they’re writing.

As always, this Yandex datacentre thing is reminding me of my core principle: if something seems like it's confirming your views, but all the evidence you can find is a crusty JPEG and not anything authoritative, maybe the information is less actual than you thought it was and maybe don't spread it.
