She's been brain-wormed like Rowling and Linehan because people had the audacity to disagree with her conclusions. It's made her more stubborn and personally invested in making her recommendations into reality, because she's now become professionally known only for this hatchet-job of a report.

At least one of the children whose healthcare was taken away neraly died. Interesting how she fails to mention this.

Peer reviewed research, listening to the experiences of the children and families affected gets 1000 worldwide views and zero media coverage. Anti-trans takes get platformed all over the UK media, complete with commentary from the powerful. The game is rigged against any justice for trans kids.

Social Security is projected to run out of the funds that it needs to pay full benefits by 2032. It’s up to progressives to turn this threat around on the right and improve America’s most cherished (and socialistic) support system while they’re at it. prospect.org?p=146821

Yes, and... It's extremely worth noting that this is the product of women in tennis fighting for years to be taken seriously with the 1970s and 80s being particularly notorious for sexist backlash which women fought through.

Caroline Fiennes@carolinefiennes.bsky.social

Yet another reason that tennis is brilliant(!) is that its main events (the four Slams) have men's & women's matches in the same days, same pitches, same stadiums, same audiences, and - despite Novak Djovokic's whining - same prize money 👍🏻

The real unfair competition women are being forced into with men is having women's sports constantly separated off as a distinct event which is made to compete commercially with much better funded and socially and institutionally enfranchised men's sporting events & found inadequate by that standard

Real screencaps from Don Jr's "hunting trip" in Mongolia with his new Kremlin handler, Umar Kremlev. Taxpayers paid $18,715 to put up his Secret Service details for 14 days, but if they were in hotel rooms, I guess they didn't get to hunt? www.ft.com/content/f41f...

There was so much to hope for being trans in 2011 even in Texas and it’s all gone, it’s all gone because every cis person decided to shouldn’t exist. It is collectively their fault that we don’t have a kinder world, and that the kids that need this care will in many cases die from lack of it

Andrew Wetzel reposted

A part of this not mentioned is that Texas used to let kids transition. I volunteered at a camp for trans kids in Houston when I was in college (pre transition I know I know how did I not know I was trans). Guess where part of that camp was? Texas Children’s. That’s how much we lost

its insane how not many people are talking about how republicans with the help of several moderate democrats are building out the largest abusive medical conversion therapy operation in modern american history

Andrew Wetzel reposted

"so what they are just going to vote republican" no, they are going to pack their shit and move to somewhere else where their child will be safe. this shit isn't a game, its life and death for years now we have been witnessing an internal trans refugee crisis in the states for this reason

liberalcurrents.comThe American Transgender Refugee CrisisIf this were occurring abroad, to an ethnic minority, we would call it ethnic cleansing.

do you really expect the loving parents of a trans kid to vote for a politician who promises to take their child's healthcare away? you'd be absurd to say yes we have friends, family spouses. when you come for us they aren't going to throw us away, that's what they'll do to you

This election offers a clear choice between lawmakers who want to maintain the status quo, & candidates who want to solve problems, invest in public schools, and create opportunities for all. We have the power to make change - we just have to harness the power and vote. bsky.app/profile/aft....

“If we believe in the America dream, we must believe that Texas - as the 8th largest economy of the country - must be at the front end of education, not the back.” Right, @rweingarten.bsky.social! Education unlocks opportunities for a better life and we must invest in our public schools. #AFTvotes

Yeah, this is really bad. It's good that El-Sayed distanced himself from it, but I am in awe at how Cenk's left-wing PAC managed to combine antisemitism with transphobia and pitch it as *supporting* the Democrat in this race.

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

You can put aside socialist-leftist prescriptions about how dangerous that alliance is, if you would like. But everything I read, across the political spectrum, agrees that these countries are connected. It is just civic maturity to pay attention to Brazil's election.

“civic maturity” is such a great turn of phrase, and perfectly sums up what is most needed now

Flávio Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party recognized the outcome of Brazil’s presidential election on Monday, a day after President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva won re-election. Bolsonaro himself has refused to accept defeat.
