"Train operating companies already have the power to issue fines [for playing loud music] of up to £1,000 for similar behaviour." Well, if enforced, that is the rail industry's financial problems solved!

Grain, for goodness sake! Everyone loses.

Footage shows a Russian drone striking the grain carrier Royad Mammadov in the Black Sea. The ship’s captain was killed and another person remains missing. The vessel sank following the attack near the Romanian coast. #Ukraine

FINALLY we have the right version of the Kemijärvi 🇫🇮 - Lagos 🇵🇹 #LongestTrainEU film up on Youtube! 😀 Watch me battle my way past cancellations, delays, and have good luck at Badajoz 🇪🇸 The record is: 125 hours, 31 mins Who wants to have a go at doing it faster? 🤔 www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAJd...

I was a bit busy during the PM's speech. I thought I would catch up with the news reports. But it seems that all the journalists have omitted the grand pronuncements about climate change that were surely there. Can someone fill me in?

HEY EVERYONE - NEW REPORT!!! NVIDIA is the largest company by market cap on the planet. But it hides key climate data, while claiming AI is going to be a 'net benefit' for climate. We (8 groups) put together the first ever broad critique of NVIDIA's climate record: ketanjoshi.co/2026/09/16/n...

Day 82: Mission accomplished! Reach Buka after last 24-hour leg from Rabaul by ferry. Delighted I completed this 28,000km journey from Europe without catching a plane, thus reducing my CO2 by ~10 times. It's all I could do for this fragile planet & I'm glad I did it! 96/ youtube.com/shorts/JzJzW...

I can't help but think there could be a publishing market for a weekly magazine that unpicks every article published in the Economist. Last week, for example, blueberry's being more valuable to South Africa than diamonds (not a single reference to climate change and airfreight logistics).

For later.

So much deceit and contempt to unwrap here. But also another significant admission from Orr - that they can't get donations from UK donors. I hope that he resigns or is fired soon. Let him go somewhere else and sing for his supper, without his University platform.

One of the most horrifying visualisations of climate change I've ever seen. Very upsetting video, so watch with caution. So sad for those people.

This is may be the craziest landslide/flash flood I have ever seen. Happened at the Gyiron border crossing at the border of Nepal and China.

Michael Jacobs writes in the Guardian today: "Amid both insecurity of energy supplies and deadly evidence of the climate crisis, the [PM]..is facing pressure from the oil and gas industry and unions on one side, and environmentalists on the other." Sorry, it is the oil lobby against the rest of us".

Government bonds are hard to understand, but not that hard, and most of the mystery is spread by the City, which wants to use them as a weapon to deny you what you need from the government. I wrote this infographic. AI drew it, directed by me.

As justifications go for airport expansion, "we've been overtaken by a Turkish city as Europe's busiest airport" is weak. Let me suggest a solution. Redraw the map and position Istanbul outside of Europe. Much easier and cheaper than trashing human life support systems. tinyurl.com/46enpewc

🚨Is Britain giving up on the North Sea too soon? Does oil & gas still have a big future in the UK? Is it the answer to our economic problems? Or just another political distraction? Spent the past few months making a Sky News documentary on this. Watch👇 youtu.be/NSdBTwL4iqA?...

4/4 This motion calls on the Government to recognise Nature as a rights-bearing entity, establish a duty of care towards Nature, and ensure that public policy supports the protection, restoration and regeneration of the living systems on which we all depend.

I've just read Ian Dunt's Substack this week entitled “Jenrick is an idiot sandwich“. There is a little formula derived from Andy Burnham's current strategy on social care. I've applied it to climate change. See what you think: weiterzugehen.net/2026/08/01/1...

Pornainen, Finland (pop 5,000) is now heated by a silo of crushed soapstone. I spoke to CNBC about it. 100 MWh, charged when power is cheap, emissions down ~70%. Days to weeks of storage, no critical minerals. www.cnbc.com/2026/07/25/f...

My Spanish champion is Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores, who kicked cars out of city center: “It's not my duty as mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. It's the same as if you bought a cow, or fridge, and then ask me where you're going to put them.”

Amnesty is a globally respected human rights charity that once won a Nobel Peace Prize and campaigns against, among other things, torture, the death penalty and unfair trials, yet on exposing the GC movement’s anti-rights approach to trans people, suddenly they’re making it up and not to be trusted.

Remember this picture, & others like it, every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam." This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s. Many of the cities we admire made tough choices regarding cars in the past, and are still making better choices today. Better choices instead of excuses.
