LIVESTREAM OF EXECUTION CANCELLED? The time someone was executed by firing squad tied to a chair was by the British in Ireland in 1916. It was the Irish Republican socialist leader James Connolly. The manner of his execution was a huge spur to the subsequent Irish rebellion against British rule.

I'm older than the manager of the Scotland football team... and I'm only in my early 40s...!

Farage calls PM Burnham a liar for reporting what the Security Services told him about Russian attempted interference in the Brexit referendum. Simple point - how could Farage possibly know what Burnham was told? So his “liar” accusation is utterly baseless.

“You’re fake news… you’re fake news….” Trump lashes out like a toddler at reporters telling him his poll numbers suck (with Hispanics too) and there’s no proof of fraud with mail-in ballots despite his lies — both true ✅ ✅

So am I, even if I haven't worked out why yet. Or what it's about. Still, it's not X or even American, so there's that!

My mother died 30 years ago after a long and difficult illness. I'm running the Oxford Half this October in her memory and to raise money for Occtopus, the Oxford Colon Cancer Trust. They do good work, and any donations would be gratefully received. www.justgiving.com/page/tim-har...

The US government sabotaging the OPCW is very bad.

Paul Guinnessy@paulguinnessy.bsky.social

The USA has not paid its annual contribution to the Organisation for the Prohibition of #ChemicalWeapons. "Funding the #OPCW is clearly in the US interest as it has time and again kept chemical weapons from falling into the hands of terrorists who would...[use] such weapons against Americans."

The big reforms Burnham outlined are interlinked. There will be no viable expansion of the social state without Brexit being resolved. To embed the UK's long-term relationship with the EU electoral reform is necessary to reduce minority disruption. Equally, for enabling devolution to work.

Don’t know whether you’ve seen this? Burnham really isn’t a traditional tax and spend Labour politician with better Tik Toks but someone with a (not entirely developed) alternative theory of politics and power, who has a tendency to say things without always thinking through the consequences.

Fox News hosts spend their day telling their audience that Democrats are communists and communists are evil people, then in the evening they all got dressed up to attend a state dinner honoring a communist.

(Re)reading this. Useful reminder that many organisations can improve productivity through people. As much, if not more, than through capital investment. And I’d add this especially applies to “human services” (people to people). Like education, health and social care. Andy Burnham please note
