I’m Corey, an indie artist making Art Nouveau-esque bird and fairytale greeting cards and prints. I sell them on my website, at local fairs and festivals along the Redwood Coast in northern California, and wholeale. 🎨🐡🪶 coreyartusimagery.com #PortfolioDay #Art #BskyArt #IndieArtist #RedwoodCoast

The God of Bad Art gets offerings from all over the world, but in Their temple, They sometimes appear. "Why bad art?" I ask. "It is brave", the God replies. "To try and fail?" "No," the God chuckles. "Any creative work is a defiance of entropy, of Death itself. If you create, you do not fail."

Being creative in an age of AI slop is an act of resistance.

THIS IS ALL TO SAY: if you find yourself not seeing as many hand crafted artisans at the con(s) you frequent, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist, it might mean they didn’t get in! Good cons want your feedback, if you want more hand made, tell them! :)

Took me a almost a day to knit the first 95 rows and only 3 hours for the last 95! Ready to block the birthday Rhombscarf. 🧶

Deleted my GitHub account. Fuck Microsoft. Fuck AI.

This quilt is done. What do you think? I call it "reflections on the lake". #artquilt #pieced #original #abstract #landscape

Knit the entire Chart 4, all 94 rows, today! That just leaves the much narrower final 96 rows tomorrow to finish knitting the Birthday Rombscarf. Woot! 🧶 Today’s progress pic shows off my no budget yarn cake core, lol. No fancy dangling yarn management tool for me just my EpiPen & my wits 😆

Hi Bluesky Fam! I'm sitting here hoping that the #art lovers here can help me out. I'm a digital artist/photog, and with the economy as it is, sales have been unusually slow this year. Bad timing as I also had three surgeries this year, which meant a lot of down time and... (1/4) #SupportArtists

My creative process has taken a turn recently. Instead of experimenting with color and making pretty landscapes, I've been more interested in emotional release and art-as-magic-as-healing. Layers of journaling, soothing watercolors, and invocations. Here's a peek at a snippet of yesterday's result

Lady Row, Goodramgate, York. The oldest timber frame domestic building in the city, 1317. Most of the row was let as one up, one down cottages. #ArchitecturalIllustration #pencil #drawing #ArtShare

i know there's all kinds of apps people use to block their internet, but physically putting a framed print of Carolyn Drake's "Door to Hell" over the entire monitor whenever i don't want to use the computer has been working pretty well here

Hey fam, Bookshop.org is selling almost all my ebooks at a significant discount right now. Not sure why, but roll up and buy a goodly portion of my catalogue for like almost half-price while it's happening bookshop.org/shop/mcburnell

My tea budget is nil but this is a rare treat for you: W2T’s annual Shulloween sale is big badaboom for your buck. 12/10 Velma recommended

A not awesome photo of my progress post-hangry snack last afternoon. About 40 more rows to halfway on the skinny scarf. Won’t be ready for the birthday girl tomorrow but 🤷‍♀️ 🧶 #KnitSky

Today, we have the lovely opportunity to create prints for @157ofgemma.bsky.social ! We used our Archival Printer and Hot Press Paper for these. 👻

We were "ahead" last time, too. Confidence means nothing right now. You still have to VOTE. And if it *is* actually true, there better be consequences when the power shifts, not wishy-washy waffling. No forgiving and forgetting. My "bleeding heart" is dry to the point of catching fire.

Very heavy news as our former studio, BioWare closes its doors today. It was a formative place for many. However, many former BioWare devs are scattered around the industry. Find them, support them. Like, follow, comment and help us prove there is still support for the types of games we make!

Putting words to action. Here are some other current studios housing former BioWare folks (that I have readily available links for): @summerfallstudios.com @studioresetgames.bsky.social @yellowbrickgames.bsky.social @exodusgameofficial.bsky.social @trickweekes.bsky.social

I feel obliged to once again reiterate that lay offs and closures are not a reaction to the economy, but a failure of leadership. Each wave of closures and layoffs should be looked upon as a consequence of greed and incompetence. If you can't keep your people employed, you are bad at your job.

This person is as clear as it is possible to be. Pure fire. #nohyperscale #AInotinevitable youtube.com/shorts/Jil7z...

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

Excellent write up on cost/benefit for artists at increasingly-pricy shows. One of the reasons that I, and so many others, so esteem HeroesCon, is that they curate and comp tables for a LOT of artists, including "new" artists. My first "real" table was at Heroes... www.comicsbeat.com/is-artist-al...
