Hyperbole cannot outrun the fact that three Tubervilles stapled together would make this woman look like Kierkegaard.

Darline Graham may be the dumbest candidate to ever run for the US Senate.

I was disgusted the #Cubs only beat the Brewers 4 times in 13 games. I've come to be amazed the Cubs beat the Brewers 4 times in 13 games.

I’m good with the Brewers winning the series because they’re so obviously baseball’s best team; I’m good with Tampa Bay being humiliated because the state of Florida wasn’t, isn’t, and never will be deserving of a Major League franchise.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Following Vin’s “the Mets win it!” there are 106 seconds of announcer silence, just the ambient sounds of crowd delirium. If that play happened today, how long could Joe Davis and, even worse, John Smoltz keep their mouths shut? Ten seconds? At most??? The elegance of pbp understatement. I miss it.

Since you can upload videos up to 10 minutes long nowadays, here's Mookie Wilson's at-bat in the 10th inning of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series.

Billy Corgan revealed who he thinks is the most influential drummer of the 21st century—and his answer might surprise you tinyurl.com/bp6eazmy

A photographer was taking a long shot of my wife and I (circled) yesterday as we left the Music Box Theater following a screening of "Bob and David Climb Machu Picchu." (We loved the film.) Then goddamn Bob Odenkirk had to step in front of the photog and ruin the shot! #scriptsky #moviesky

Assault On Precinct 13 was one of those films that forged its reputation in the UK. John Carpenter was made up by its success over here and told the head of the British company that released it he'd name a character in his next film after him. So well done UK film distributor Michael Myers

Smoltz is perfect for Fox. Just like all other talking heads on the network, he's wrong all the time in ways that are easily proven, but also never shuts the hell up so he overwhelms you with the sheer quantity of wrongness. You can't dispute him because he's already onto the next wronger thing.

FOX keeps telling the “Jake Bauers only didn’t quit baseball because his wife was pregnant and his family wouldn’t have healthcare otherwise” story like it’s a charming story and not a complete failure of this country. Which, of course, is very fitting for baseball.

The context for this was Ditka saying there had been no oppression of black Americans in his lifetime and therefore NFL players protesting police murders should shut up and tackle.

Ditka said not running against Barack Obama for U.S. Senate in 2004, as GOP leaders encouraged him to, was the “Biggest mistake I ever made. Not that I would have won, but I probably would have and he wouldn’t be in the White House.” Glad you were too busy, Coach. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/09/s...

Coincidentally, that’s how long Game 5 will last.

Sox fans, it’s 5 1/2 hours from Chicago to Jacobs Field. Spend the money, buy the ticket.

It has NOT been 120 years since the #WhiteSox celebrated a post-season series win on home turf. It has only been 119 years and (now) 358 days.

That was the famous #WhiteSox "Hitless Wonders" team, which hit an American League-worst .230 with a league-low 7 HR. I wonder who they beat? Must have been one, star-crossed outfit. Cursed, even.

Today is the second time in franchise history the White Sox will play a home game with a chance to clinch a postseason series Joining: 1906 WS G6, which they won

Reminder: Back in early April, the #Cubs won two of three in Tampa, so if #Rays win the World Series, the Cubs will be declared #MLB champions.
