It is time to go, and I have hope for a better life for our family. I'm grateful we have the means and opportunity to leave and I'm incredibly proud of Cal who has made this happen as well as our kids who have been utterly brilliant.

Girlguiding should be utterly ashamed of themselves. They are not merely excluding trans girls illegitimately but ignoring the rest of the membership who have campaigned to have trans girls included. Girlguiding does not HAVE to exclude trans girls.

Reddit user pkunfcj has collated advice on what people in Wales can do to fight back against the trans surgical ban:: - writing to Senedd members and the First Minister (with an example email) - complain through patient advocacy services - complain to the health board - organise protests

This is the most fucked up and immediately harmful policy decision I think I've ever seen in adult trans healthcare in the UK, and that's saying something. The Welsh Gender Service is one of the best in the country. It is widely praised by the patients it helps. That is why it is being targeted.

🚨🆕 @wearequeeraf.com and @whatthetrans.com can reveal that the NHS has cancelled all gender-affirming surgeries for adult patients of the Welsh Gender Service Some trans patients received the news just days or even hours before they were due to take place 👇 www.wearequeeraf.com/nhs-cancels-...

And then, you absolutely guessed it, two separate parents came through the line with their trans children, one father crying about how good and rare it feels to hear his son defended. Speak up, authors, if you can. People are listening.

Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2

1/🧵 We do need to talk more about the illegality and lawlessness of the Cass Review. Hilary Cass cited Anne Wæhre's then-unpublished “study” via “personal communication”. It was later published at doi:10.1007/s00787-024-02508-5 and doi:10.1111/apa.17530, and the papers have now been retracted.

We now must fix the law, and the huge backlash you have driven really matters. It will not come into force today, but is set to at a later date to be confirmed. This marks a low point in our country’s history of LGBTQ+ rights, but history is still being made. Trans people aren’t going anywhere.

TransHealthNow reposted

Anna Waehre subsequently lost a court case over medical ethics for violating patient privacy and mining their records without consent.

Natacha@natacha.bsky.social

Cass excluded all studies showing that hormone treatment for young trans people was beneficial claiming they were not “high quality” randomized controlled trials Yet she included this via a “personal communication” from a discredited source outside her own “not less than 2 years old” restrictions

ANOTHER frustrating take. TERFDOM in the UK didn't succeed cos 'they' were more successful than 'us' at 'reaching the people who matter'. They were more successful by BEING the people who matter. Bigotry positioned with entrenched power vs trans people holding no power.

Toby Buckle@polphilpod.bsky.social

people don't want to hear this, but it's why elite persuasion matters the uk becoming the most trans-exclusionary developed democracy in the world under a labour gov was not a bottom up thing—it was the other side reaching the people who matter www.liberalcurrents.com/the-end-of-t...

Based on Stephenson's appalling quote, I've followed the evidence for identifying the sex of people by their face. The original study [Bruce et al 1993] asked participants to separate laser scans of (Caucasian) faces. "Laser profiles of females gave rise to high [38.9%] error rates." 1/

Of course, there is no mention of Trans people in this study. Nor of the impact of HRT on facial features, nor of impact of any facial surgeries. Stephenson's attempt to apply such niche science to monitoring toilet use is deeply flawed, deeply problematic, deeply ignorant psuedoscientific waffle 4/

A 2nd experiment showed faces in full view with different parts of the face concealed, found "extraordinarily high error rates in recognising female faces in laser scans". A 47.9% error rate and 52.6% where various types of masks were used - participants were more likely to fail than be right! 2/

🧵New report from the @childrenscomm.bsky.social shines a bright light on a broken care pathway for children and young people experiencing gender dysphoria. Most get nothing. Only 15% get referred on to the Gender Service, and only 15% assessed / treated for co-occurring mental health need.

We've had years of 'concerns' about these children plastered all over our media. This is the end point - our society is so 'concerned' about trans children that we've carefully made sure they will spend a third of their childhood on a waiting list to nowhere.

Whilst this is a draft, the government has been advised by many experts leading up to this. I’ve been part of this myself, and choosing to keep loopholes that create room for abuse under the guise of healthcare is the antithesis of what medicine should be Every doctor should be loudly opposing this

Nancy Kelley@nancymk.bsky.social

I've spent years working towards a ban on conversion practices, hoping to see a bill published. Today, I just feel so profoundly sad. As many others have noted, the draft has a carve out for "healthcare" so broad it makes a mockery of the idea this is a 'ban'. 1/2 www.gov.uk/government/p...

There will never be a conversion therapy bill from this Government that outlaws the current Government endorsed NHS approach to trans kids, which has conversive practices at its heart. Suggesting 'loopholes' can be closed in a forthcoming consultation is beyond naive, it is dangerously unserious

Hot Take -The UK LGBT+ sector is weak, ineffective & a large part of the reason why we are in this mess. Self congratulatory, ineffectual & compromised -they welcomed the Cass report & Conversion therapy charter with glee vs total resignation on segregation. Rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

TLDR It is not robust or effective. About as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Gendered Intelligence@genderedintelligence.co.uk

While this is a moment to be celebrated, this is the beginning of a process not the end. Over the coming weeks and months, we will carefully review the legislation to ensure it is robust, effective, and puts an end to conversion practices once and for all.

Wow the conversion exception for healthcare providers is a MILE wide. Overt & explicit conversion against trans & gay people is FINE & not a conversion practice, i) when conducted by a healthcare provider ii) so long as doesn't 'fall far below the standards reasonably expected in their profession'

Draft bill on conversion practices is out. Lots of loopholes in it www.gov.uk/government/publications/draft-conversion-practices-bill/conversion-practices-draft-bill

It is an awful bill which does nothing to stop state mandated "conversion therapy" of Trans youth. It does nothing but serve as a thin veneer of cover for the most anti LGBT+ Government since Thatcher.

🧵For the many people who have been subjected to horrific practices of abuse, just because of who they are or who they love, this will be a bittersweet day. Bitter because despite cross party working, it is long overdue - but sweet because there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. 1/3
