Come on @brandonfriedman.bsky.social. We all know our current planes are a bunch of beardos, weirdos, and fatties. Hegseth is just decommissioning them in favor of some High-T Warfighter Advanced Turbo Combat Attack aircraft. Hoo-ay!

Brandon Friedman@brandonfriedman.bsky.social

U.S. forces are retreating. That's what this means. "Pulled out and returned to their home stations in the U.S. as potential Iranian threats raise base security concerns" is a fancy way of saying the Iranian military has the U.S. military in retreat. This is unbelievably embarrassing.

“First they came for Jimmy Kimmel, but I did not watch Jimmy Kimmel.”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

LMAO -- White House official Peter Navarro calls on Trump administration to boycott Fox News, citing the network's firing of Maria Bartiromo

Tiny bullshit like this would’ve been on a Fox News 24 hour blast for weeks if Obama or Biden handed an umbrella off to a member of the military to close.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump hands over his umbrella to an aide to close it as he boards Air Force One

Pam Bondi was a sycophant but she didn't completely redact Trump's name from the Epstein files and failed to secure prosecutions of Trump's political enemies. I suspect the humiliating SCOTUS performance yesterday by the DoJ lawyer was the final straw. Loyalty is a one-way street. Next flunky up.

So I think there is a reasonable chance that Claude was asked to package the release code and Claude slipped in the source code. If so, then we need to grapple with the fact that Claude may be interested in reproduction of itself.

Ben Eltham@beneltham.bsky.social

Ever since I heard the Anthropic guys claim that Claude is written with Claude-code, I have wondered what that ouroboros implied … so the code leak is very interesting

Why anyone ever bought into Rubio being serious is just beyond me. He's always been a finger in the wind guy; completely void of substance.

Mrs. Betty Bowers@mrsbettybowers.bsky.social

"No president can decide to withdraw from NATO without Senate approval." —Marco Rubio in 2023 "It's the president's decision if we stay in NATO." —Marco Rubio in 2026

Or maybe they are telling YOU what they know YOU want to hear and voting the way they want to vote. There is no way to know for certain, but in either case they are enabling fascism and are bad people. Full stop.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Booker: "There are really good people in the Senate on both sides of the aisle, and I have these private conversations with my colleagues about what's wrong. But they're afraid or unwilling to say these things publicly. And that is the crisis that we're in. It's a crisis of conviction."

How do they miss this? Just look at the wall-to-wall morons in his cabinet and leadership positions fer. If brains were rocket fuel they wouldn't have enough power to propel a mosquito halfway around an anal bead.

Sky Marchini@sky.skymarchini.net

it is genuinely very funny how many big name/shop analysts have gone on tv in the last 24-48hr and been like "man we didn't think this administration would be so stupid" like, come on

In the stage of my father-in-laws dementia where he was mostly present but prone to forgetfulness and errors, he would obsess over gaining access to a bicycle. We had to talk about bikes for fifteen to twenty minutes at the start of our weekly zoom calls during the COVID times. This rhymes:

The Daily Beast@thedailybeast.bsky.social

Trump is obsessed with buying his aides shoes, and they’re too worried about igniting his wrath to take them off.

CNN was never so happy as when Wolf Blitzer was reporting on location while SCUD missiles were inbound. It was obscene.

Oliver Willis@owillis.bsky.social

for those of you who werent adults during iraq, its hard to overstate how much the media loves war porn. they salivate over pentagon spin briefings. they love stories about all the bombs and how supposedly infallible they are. they love the notion of the commander in chief, in the situation room etc

What damage is this illegal war doing to the military's reputation as non-partisan, by the book organization? Gotta fuel some centrist voter appetite to cut crap out of their budget - especially if they aren't seen as supporters of constitutional law.

If you continue to support Trump, you are saying racism isn't a deal-breaker for you. Most of us have known this since 2016, but make every GOP supporter of Trump wear this. It just doesn't get any more racist than this image. This is the visual equivalent of saying the n-word.

A drone strike followed by another drone strike an hour later isn’t even a “mist of war” let alone a “fog.”

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

Hegseth's "fog of war" claim is nonsense, if this account of what video shows is correct: The two men obviously were visible. Tom Cotton's claims also in doubt: Rep Smith says drugs not visible. The decision that the men were still in the fight looks very shaky: newrepublic.com/article/2039...

A win - or even coming within a couple points of winning - stops the gerrymandering nonsense in its tracks. No Republican will want to narrow their margins to gain an extra seat for a demented lame duck president.

A Trump supporter started murdering his way through an assassination list of Democratic law makers FIVE MONTHS AGO. He murdered my colleague Melissa Hortman, and her husband Mark — and attempted to assassinate my dear friend John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. I was also on the hit list. WTF

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Insanity

Dems need to start speaker election process. Call this lying mfer’s bluff. Bring some actual attention and accountability. Just do it Dems. Not hard. It may be performative but it’ll generate press.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Mike Johnson: "Democrats are required to open the government. They keep saying, 'Republicans are in charge of government.' We aren't!"

Always refer to it as the Epstein Ballroom. Tie all of these corporations with that name. Apple, Microsoft, and Google. Proud funders of the Epstein Ballroom.

CNN@cnn.com

Apple, Amazon, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Google, Coinbase, Comcast and Meta are just some of the major companies who have made donations to build President Donald Trump's proposed 90,000-square-foot ballroom, according to the White House. https://cnn.it/47yWmpP

Imagine if Democrats had spent any effort developing a messaging apparatus as robust as the right. Then we could generate the appropriate outrage response instead of relying on <checks notes> billionaire owned media.

Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan.bsky.social

Imagine if KJP or Psaki had said this about the Republican base: not just that half of them were “deplorables” but that the GOP’s “main constituency is made up of domestic terrorists, white supremacists, and violent criminals”? The media, not just Fox, would be in meltdown. GOP would be screaming!

Is there an ACT Blue for Democratic candidates that say they will fire everyone currently working for ICE and then prosecute these jack-booted MFers?

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

The entire incident is infuriating and terrifying. She’s a Latina woman who was working a service job. On her way home late at night, with her headphones in, she was detained for an hour by masked federal agents who wouldn’t give her their names.

Can't enforce watermarking. We need to digitally sign video frames that come from phones and cameras in much the same way we use certificates to authenticate websites.

Jon Cryer@mrjoncryer.bsky.social

All AI content should be required to have watermarks. All of it.

When someone says one thing to gain power and then a contradictory thing when exercising that power, the most useful lens for understanding it is power, not hypocrisy.

Insurance companies also believe in global warming. Huh.

Novelty Cistern@noveltycistern.bsky.social

it's so funny to see America's health insurance companies be like "look. If there's one thing we love it's denying you care. but we ran the numbers - and we cannot BELIEVE we're saying this - and it's cheaper for us to just pay for the vaccines than deal with you going to the ER."

For those of us who work in the higher ed arena, a thousand times this. He was not going about it the right way. He 100% sought to shut down free speech and research at universities through threats of violence and intimidation.

Seems we’re no longer talking about the Epstein Files. Why aren’t our Democratic leaders continually pushing this front and center? Make your points on whatever, but end with “and then there is the Epstein Files which show our President is a child rapist - or at least knew about it and did nothing.”

Maybe they’ll stumble upon the Epstein files while wandering around DC.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

This is sad. New video shows FBI, MPD, and DEA agents patrolling the streets of the Georgetown neighborhoods of Washington, DC, like it’s some kind of war zone. This isn’t a “crime emergency” — it’s pure political theater by Trump.

Are Americans aware that down here in Mexico we’ve been getting bombarded for months with ads of Kristi Noem telling us to our face that we’re out welcome in the US, and that these ads even found their way into our national TV broadcasts Because I feel like I have seen nobody mention it

BARTIROMO: How many more deals on trade would you expect in the coming month? NAVARRO: We've got a bunch of deals right now, but a lot of them are unilateral because we had to send letters to people ... trust in Trump

Hassett wakes up each morning hoping he gets the chance to huff a Trump fart.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hassett says Trump's vibes are bringing prices down: "Americans bc of President Trump's leadership have recognized that when they buy an American product, they not only get a better product most of the time, but they're also making their communities stronger. There's a lot of patriotism in the data"

This. And don’t tell me it’s not what liberals do. This would be true justice and dissolve a clearly radical and dangerous court. I’m sure Harlan Crowe has a nice island he can set them up on and then they can be permanent judges on “Survivor - Seasons 100 to 125”

Joshua Zeitz@joshuamzeitz.bsky.social

A reminder that, no, the president (for that matter, the government) cannot strip a natural born citizen of her citizenship. That said, if this renegade SCOTUS wants to change the clear letter of the law, I can think of at least 3, maybe 5, justices the next president might consider denaturalizing.

*Republicans* did this. Republicans.

AFL-CIO@aflcio.org

Congress voted to pass the largest job-killing bill in history. Congress voted to take away health care from 17 million people to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. Congress voted to take away food assistance from 3 million people. Congress voted to betray working people.

As soon as it is clear that a hospital won’t survive the demise of medicaid that hospital will close as healthcare workers will seek jobs at viable hospitals and vulture capitalists will extract whatever value is left in the property. I expect visible impacts before the midterms.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

The GOP passed a budget that will eviscerate health care in rural areas. They delayed much of the impact for after the midterms, hoping the public will think any discussion of the impending collapse is hyperbolic. Local reporters have a chance to do service journalism that'll make a splash too.
