This is a thread to illustrate the nuclear block. I'm going to reply with a throwaway account, then block it, and screenshot the results from my alt account.

SHOW ME THE DOCUMENTS>>>>> We did something sort of crazy at The NYT this year, as we look for ways to dig into what has happened at the Environmental Protection Agency since Trump returned to the White House. We collected more than 466,200 pages of federal and state documents.....

It is ok to decide that—in the middle of constitutional crisis—that the job of social media is not persuasion, but organization and organization. It is also ok to decide that listening and persuasion does not have to involve violence and abuse. You know why trolls hide under bridges, right?

If Americans need our little southern recipe for how to defeat fascism it goes like this: - Put people in the streets by standing for popular demands (wages, healthcare, public services) - Do not engage with fascists online - Do not succumb to doomsayers or media-driven narratives - Be happy

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

D. Hicks reposted

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

with 29 toes, Erebus is 45% better at being a cat than other cats. i'm worried that he might be too good at being a cat.

there's a Maine Coon kitten named Erebus Anomaly. he's in Wisconsin. he recently received recognition for having more toes than any other documented living cat. 29 toes. that's an awful lot of toes. like, wtf. i'm over here expected to make do with 10 toes, like some kind of schmuck.

Charlie, my dear sweet orange boy, was just scarfing wet food while sitting on the windowsill. I hear him start to make the “barfy barfy” noise and look up. He proceeds to leap down and projectile vomit in mid air while soaring across the room. Speechless. I’d almost call it impressive. 😑😑😑😭😂

JUST POSTED: Today at The NYT we are publishing a major investigation into how President Trump used his executive powers to expose millions of Americans to greater cancer risks. A six month-long investigation built on more than 10,000 pages of FOIA records. Read it www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

Still bewildered abt this wildly inappropriate design to address the research question. Peer review is an instrumental process. What does it mean to measure whether it's "good" if the "what for?" question is never asked? Why should anyone care how three editors and AI evaluate peer review content?

This is one thing America has indisputably done better than the rest of the world (looking at you, Europe) over the last ~25 years. When I was a kid, restaurants still had smoking and non-smoking sections. Today, the idea of someone smoking inside a building is offensive to most people.

Fewer people smoke. Everyone’s healthier and all and that’s great but personally I love that I can eat a meal at a restaurant without feeling like I got strep throat.

It might be true that “Democrats shouldn’t talk about border security.” I don’t think that’s true, but let’s grant it’s true for the sake of the argument. It does not follow from that that ”Democrats shouldn’t talk about ICE shooting people or sending them to foreign gulags“ (paraphrasing)

Under bizarro long division, every number that gets a terminating decimal expansion under normal long division ends up with repeating 9’s, while all other numbers end up with the same expansion they would have had under normal long division.

Billionaires throw a fit at the idea of an annual wealth tax... but literally everyone else already pays one via property taxes (either directly as a homeowner or secondarily as a renter). The only reason securities aren't taxed the same is because that's where the rich keep most of their wealth.

Matt Novak@paleofuture.bsky.social

“The borrowing let Ellison keep his stock and avoid locking in taxable gains, and highlighted how billionaires often employ a strategy called ‘buy, borrow and die’ to retain their wealth without selling assets.”

And, indeed, SCMs and LLMs have a great deal in common, from their ravenous appetite for data to the black holes of responsibility at their centers. That's because they share a common heritage in the mid-century sciences of systems.

A couple things that surprised me: first, SCM exponents often describe a well-managed supply chain as intelligent, virtually sentient, because it reacts so precisely and quickly to changes in market conditions. In fact, you might say they view a supply chain as a kind of artificial intelligence.
