Hello! I'm Dan, and I'm a games producer with Companion Group! 5 games to know me by; - Team Fortress 2 - Ocarina of Time - Batman: Arkham Asylum - Hearthstone - Prison Architect Colts (NFL) and McLaren (F1) fan, because you can't be an optimist if you don't start from a low point I guess

just to offer a perspective I've not seen much of On Here: I work in codev, I'm not in the "core team". I'm an employee of a codev studio. I am a full time employee with all the legal benefits that entails. I also have better job security than I might at a studio. It's pretty great. I like my job!

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

Ghostbusters: The Video Game features in its scenery a truck with a period-accurate 90's Doritos logo on one side, and a 2009 Doritos logo on the other side so you know what to look for in the shop.

Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume? Producer: Gap? GAP?! Who the hell's been messing around with End Dates in Jira?

Hiii. I got made redundant over summer and job-hunting is SLOW so I'm very available for freelance work! Over the last 15-20 years I've done a tonne of podcasts, streams, video interviews, photos, written articles/reviews, and drone stuff. Proof that I don't suck: www.midnightcereal.com Thanks!

looking forward to a Brain of Morbius re-release where it's this guy and 7 beardy blokes

Right, yes, a Monaco Sprint is going to suck BUT - two Monaco qualifying sessions...

Rory Mitchell@rorymitchellf1.bsky.social

I hope you like Sprint races... F1's 2027 calendar features 10 of them, starting with the season opener in Bahrain, then Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. Turkish Grand Prix is 3rd October, and Portugal returns on June 20th. #F1

Rise of Skywalker is the cliche answer but I can't think of anything worse. Not only was it rotten on a fundamental level, but I went in fine and came out with the onset of a cold that lasted a week.

Big news! @apzonerunner.com and I have launched a new video games website. @respec.net is our attempt to create a highly curated multi-format site that has that club feel you used to get from the best magazines (and frankly, my beloved VideoGamer back in the day) www.respec.net/feature/87-w...

my belief is that at the end of the day, great games are made by groups of people who have high trust with each other & can fluidly execute a shared vision. which is a small part of why these layoffs are so devastating- it's not just about jobs, it's about these "trust structures" being torn apart.

Set up a Google Sheet for the weekly shopping list; I just tick things we need in a list of all items we could need, and it creates a list ordered by the order I reach them on my route around the store.

It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders: - gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things - you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing - the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up I’ll go first:

i think the "nintendo hire this man" jokes are funny and deserved but also i'm not going to worry about it in any sort of serious way until we actually see link get up and move around the world lol

My one big Tory opinion is that it's called Lylat Wars, that's it's proper name and we'll not have any of this StarFox 64 nonsense under my roof.

TVGoHome, man. Never seen such joke density since. I have the book and it never - NEVER - fails to cheer me up.

I remember making VideoGamer (Pro-G back then) sat in the tiniest bedroom in a university house share in Brighton. It was my entire life for a very long time. I hope people remember it for what it meant to people and not the abomination it is today.

Well then. After 9 years my role of Editorial Director at Eurogamer/IGNE has been made redundant. If you’re reading this and feel I have a lot of valuable experience (I do), I’m keen to explore any opportunities (full time, consulting, other) in the games industry. I am great.

It's Rise of Skywalker. Not only was it absolute piss, but I went in feeling fine and came out with the onset of what ended up being a week-long cold.

fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

And, right on cue, the best explanation I've ever read for why it's _the worst_ bsky.app/profile/rinc...

okay you know what we're doing this why rise of skywalker is the worst crime ever committed against cinema and the very concept of a coherent fictional universe: a thread

Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show: What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc
