I’m seeing Ohio political ads on my TV and it’s pretty nuts—a woman crying that she won’t be able to afford to stay in her home unless Vivek wins. OK lol

People need to stop posting about how based French people are and work to organize the ability to do that in the U.S.

The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning. As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law.

There's some kind of party invite spam thing that's been going around on email and it's honestly been kind of nice to see the names of old friends I haven't talked to in many years and know that they're a dumb shit who clicks on whatever.

Ms. Rachel: "Ed Sheeran had an opportunity…Instead he caved to people who refuse to accept what the world knows." "If more than 20,000 white children were killed…everyone would be shouting…Treating some children's lives as less worthy of outrage is racist. Silence during a genocide is not neutral."

“As important as it is, however, to make complex concepts available to a popular audience, it is equally important to encourage intellectual inquiry as part of public life.”

“It is very appalling and sometimes quite frightening to see how trans-exclusionary feminists have allied with rightwing attacks on gender” Today is exactly 5 years since @theguardian.com censored the words of non-binary academic, Judith Butler. These are the censored words. Still valid now.

OMG. Just saw a full screen Getty Images watermark on a stock video clip! C’mon PBS I know there have been cutbacks, but wow.

SCOOP from @by-cjewett.bsky.social & me: Markwayne Mullin urged the Department of Health and Human Service to remove warnings from the FDA website about the health risks of the gas station drug kratom. Mullin owns equity in a leading kratom company called Botanic Tonics that could have benefited.

My gut says we lose this, because that’s the way it’s always been, but the whole season since the Olympics has been like an alternate timeline.

Zohran Mamdani becomes one of the first mayors in the US (and among a small handful of prominent US officials generally) to recognize the Nakba — the mass expulsion and forced displacement of 700,000+ Palestinians. Connected directly with a Nakba survivor:

Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.   Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us.

Hell yeah. Watching the Sabres game on Hockey Night in Canada live stream and they’re playing Sloan into commercial.

Breaking: Tennessee Republicans pass new 9-0 gerrymander after SCOTUS destruction of Voting Rights Act eliminating state’s only majority-Black district & last Democratic seat. Splits Memphis, which is 63% Black, into 3 districts to disenfranchise Black voters. Quite literally a return to Jim Crow

Also could you imagine how it would read if a protestor “bumped into” the school president with their car?

This story was broken by The Cornell Sun, which @nytimes.com nowhere cites. As a former editor-in-chief of The Sun — and in the name of brave, amazing college newspapers everywhere — do not treat student journalists as truffle pigs, taking what they've sniffed out without credit or compensation.
