Anyone in Minnesota will tell you that this matches the eye test. They are simply grabbing anyone who's not white. Full stop. There is no other strategy to this at all. It's a racist, heinous federal occupation. Dismantle the agencies. Prosecute everyone involved. Redistribute all the funding.

Jen Bendery@jbendery.bsky.social

A stunning detail the ICE chief shared in this hearing that was supposed to be a brag, except it isn't: ICE has arrested 379,000 people between Jan. 2025-Jan. 2026 -- but only 8,700 were suspected gang members or known suspected terrorists. That's 2%! www.huffpost.com/entry/latest...

In response to announcement that he will be a new CBS contributor, Andrew Huberman tweeted “I’ve always gone issue-by-issue on health & science, spoken to experts w/a range of takes & presented where I see the center of (data) mass pointed. I’ll do the same with @CBSNews”. In Sept he posted this:

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

Democratic leadership is terrified of being seen on the side of the people of Minneapolis, least they lose the potential future support of pro-cop people whose support they do not and never will have.

Margaret Killjoy@margaret.bsky.social

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

nobody who thinks police shootings are justified because the cops got really scared would ever accept that as an excuse for their food delivery being twenty minutes late

"That’s an underappreciated feature of our political age: It’s not just that things are bad, it’s that they’re relentlessly so. You can’t turn it off. You can’t escape it. You can’t distinguish between real and fake, good and bad, normal and abnormal. The stuff keeps piling up." 👇

This is so weirdly personal considering Casten is the rep for the district I grew up in, which was solidly republican my entire life until he flipped it. MattY being a moron is nothing new, he will eventually fade away if people stop paying attention to him

Matthew Yglesias @mattyglesias.bsky.social

There’s nothing wrong with @casten.house.gov being an electoral underperformer in a safe seat, but in his thread attacking me he is asking Democrats to defer to his political judgment. I think it’s a smarter bet to defer to folks who overperform in tough races.

Being the partner whose fitness annoys the other really is endlessly rewarding

wife's workout video includes a Pole Position countdown before each new set of reps and i'm going insane in another room. i can't even go in and turn it off because, well, she's been working out.

It really is bizarre how under reported the BBB throwing tons of people of Medicaid and reducing subsidies is directly causing this is. I get that every media baron is a Nazi now but even independent media doesn't seem to mention this casual effect much.

This is true. In 2005 Indiana increased the speed limit on most interstates to 70 mph, ending most speeding. It also decreased the lethality of any crashes that happened at 70 mph.

Darknet Food Critic@deadsynapse.bsky.social

If you increase the limits then by definition they won't, and we both get what we want.

Podesta was Bill Clinton’s point man as he gutted welfare, deregulated the banks, and broke with labor. This is the centrist two-step. You foreclose the possibility for a politics of economic redistribution, and then you blame the left for Dems not appealing to the working class.

society: you can't steal from your neighbor's mailbox also society: here's a guy with way more interesting mail than you. he lives right next to you and he probably doesn't even care about his mail forgetful police officer: do you know why i pulled you over?

I love arguing about speed limits with people on this site because I know the average user age is mid fifties and there's a nonzero chance that I'm giving someone a heart attack that otherwise would have been slowing me down by going five miles an hour under the speed limit in the passing lane.

Really needs to be stated that this isn't how our healthcare system works, the biggest/most specialized hospital chains would take on less risk of everyone was on Medicare instead of having to charge exorbitantly to subsidize money lost from treating the uninsured

Mark Cuban@mcuban.bsky.social

For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates. What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ? Who in the USA gov runs the program? R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

Everyone's healthcare premium went up this year because a ton of high risk people got pushed off of Medicaid and into commercial pools, run by companies with shareholder boards that demand quarter over quarter growth. Take that away and put everyone on government insurance and premiums go DOWN
