Day 1 of the new Oxford Street. It’s looking great. As @CamdenCouncil Leader, I supported @MayorofLondon’s initiative from the outset and I’m glad I did so. A pleasure to walk it this afternoon and be able to use the traffic-free space to navigate the crowds. #OxfordStreet

The Student List had no party machinery. It operated through university assemblies, protests and hiking between cities & towns. They had 2% of national TV political advertising airtime vs 93% for Vučić. This is one of the most remarkable grassroots democratic victories in modern European history.

A technology that health professionals and patients don't trust is not a "successful implementation". And that lack of trust is not just some political brain fog. Time for some take back public control. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Always worth a revisit to this, god knows we need a laugh right?

Happy Kicked In The Head By A Horse Day, to all who celebrate. It's the 7th anniversary of this absolute banger.

So glad to have made it to the Camden Irish Centre today for the launch of Sagal Abdi-Wali’s campaign for #HolbornAndStPancras. Nearly 500 people filling the hall with optimism, purpose and hope. ✅ Vote Sagal ✅ Vote Hope ✅ Vote Labour

🥳🤩👏💥💪

A packed crowd waiting for the launch of @Sagal_AW by-election campaign. Everyone bristling with energy and ready for the #HolbornAndStPancras by-election. #VoteLabour on October 8.

Completely - not a moment too soon!

Delighted govt going further to protect children online & blocking taking & sharing of nude images of children. There's still danger tech companies will push back & find sympathetic ears in US. We need to work with European partners to strengthen our hand and protect children.

Let’s call it what it is 👏👏👏

It didn't "go rogue". It did what it was instructed to do. In a sophisticated way but nonetheless we have to stop assigning human agency to AI systems. Everything that happened here was as a result of human designed and instructed systems.

Congratulations England on securing a bronze medal at the FIFA World Cup – our best finish at a World Cup since 1966. 🥉 You’ve made the nation proud and inspired millions.

Mad and bad idea 👎

Anthony Painter@anthonypainter.bsky.social

Not going to lie, I think this is a bad idea. UK Government has not properly adjusted to devolution. We have a series of ministers who seem to largely man mark devolved nations/regions- we don't need more. Which creates even more clutter/duplication. We have to push power down *and* de-dupe.

Labour GAIN from Green! Huge congratulations to @camdenlabour.bsky.social's Nanouche Umeadi for winning the Regents Park by-election. Great to see her back on Camden Council, after defeating the relentless negativity and posturing of Camden Green party.

Indeed…

Richard Olszewski@richardolszewski.bsky.social

Average cost of a Parliamentary by-election? In 2016: £230,000. In today’s prices, c. £320,000. All that for #Farage to prove what, exactly? #Clacton questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-ques...

No other party runs - burst that expensive bubble (by-elections cost more than £200k)

Will Jennings📉🗳️@drjennings.bsky.social

If Restore aren't contesting Clacton it makes no sense for Labour, Greens, Lib Dems to either. Easy message is "stop wasting everyone's time, we'll see you in the autumn for the real by-election" and let Farage pound the doorsteps and stand on a stage with Count Binface.

Yup! 😡

Adam Schwarz@adamjschwarz.bsky.social

Nigel Farage represents one of the UK's poorest constituencies. He made more money since entering Parliament than any other MP. Now he's forcing the taxpayer to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds for a by-election gimmick to distract from investigations into gigantic "donations" he's received.

Ben Coleman@chelfulhamben.bsky.social

On this day in 1948, hospitals in Chelsea, Fulham and beyond were made free for all by the Labour govt - no more workhouse stigma, no more means-testing at the door. Today, we're getting waiting lists down but there's still lots more to do, working with the wonderful NHS staff. 💙 #NHSbirthday

Great to be out earlier this week supporting @CamdenLabour’s Nanouche Umeadi in the #RegentsPark by-election. People voting Labour after gobsmacked at Camden Greens not knowing their candidate was ineligible to be a councillor; cost to residents = £30,000.

Keep going! 👏

Richard Hermer@richardhermer.bsky.social

Strongly support this move from my excellent colleague. The reality is that Twitter / X does push misinformation, abuse and racism, and we all know it. While we both support colleagues to make their own choices, Twitter / X is not the country, and there are lots of ways to engage with voters.
