I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.
My child loves going to the library and checking out a new video game every week. Going digital only eliminates libraries as a way people can access games.

I'm excited to watch! You inspired me to really buckle down and make a new art piece just for the occasion. I hope you like it, and also if you want to see the heinous first attempt at it from yesterday morning, I'll send it to you, but it is embarrassingly bad lmfao Glad I could do this in time!

I brought it up on the show but there's a thing in Restaurants called the Death Spiral. Pretty simply it's that once you start firing staff to cut costs, you've started the process to killing your restaurant because quality will only go down, which will lead to less sales, and cutting more costs.
I'll really never understand the reasoning of laying off experienced valuable people. It's just robbing yourself

We got an email to Castle Super Beast a few months ago asking when the crash was going to happen, only for me and @wooliewoolz.bsky.social to point out we've been covering layoffs during the news sections for something like 70 weeks in a row. We're IN it.
We’re in a video game crash. You can’t look at 45K jobs lost, games in dev for 5-10 years shuttered in a week or a month, jacked prices on hardware to 30%+ vs launch, and component prices through the roof due to garbage SlopTech and tariffs and draw any different conclusion.

Absolutely, but I think there's a really sinister human shield mentality going around for devs that people are somehow supposed to lend sympathy to Sony or Tencent or Bungies management for making the bad calls. The ire should be directed towards the C-suite that managed these decisions.
There's a wierd evil mindset going around that makes folks want more concord/highguard to happen. I'd personally rather have a good game and people not to lose thier jobs than have a chuckle of schadenfreude
