Transit polls well. We use that popularity to push for more reliable & abundant transit. Let's make it better than driving. I'm in Vancouver, unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ land. ED @movementyvr.bsky.social cohost @dwelltime.ca pod

This was such a fun episode to record with @jahorne.bsky.social and @denisagar.bsky.social! Unlocked a hidden memory about NUMTOTs, I haven't heard that term in a WHILE... we've all switched to different terms like transit fans/nerds and "foamers" lol
Ep. 9 is out! @jahorne.bsky.social has been a bright presence on social media, always posting about transportation and urbanism but with a personal, joyful flair. We talking about his career path, and his role in the legendary Facebook group NUMTOT Links to all podcast platforms ⬇️ or dwelltime.ca

Thanks to - allowing single stair buildings - transit-oriented development one can build a 6-storey apt building that fits on 1 single-family lot. *26* units, 6 of them are 3-bed, 18 are 2-bed. https://www.shapeyourcity.ca/2150-w-16-ave #CanadaHousingCrisis

I wouldn’t call Farha a housing advocate, but the concern I have most with this argument is that it assumes her aesthetic preferences (shorter buildings) are desirable and universal enough to impose on everyone else - at high social cost.
So Farha is calling for midrise buildings everywhere? Or just opposing all new housing while suggesting no alternative?

Rivian's CEO predicts that the self-driving future revolves around personally owned cars— not robotaxis. Indeed, surveys show that's what most ppl want. But it would be a disaster for cities/climate b/c personally owned AVs would massively expand car use and sprawl. techcrunch.com/2026/10/19/r...

A service hour freeze is already a cut in real terms as congestion worsens and transit gets slowed down. A straight dollar value freeze (as the BC Cons' platform has proposed by omitting transit funding) immediately triggers fiscal cliff level service cuts.
