Some context around this, from a markets person. Historically in LatAm, leftist victories have led to sharp losses over the ~3 months after an election where the left wins. Stocks also typically underperformed into those victories. But 3y post-election, returns for leftists have been *higher*.

Lewis Wade 🗃️@wadehistory.bsky.social

It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

Trump detests the free enterprise system. He believes in a Soviet-style command economy with total government control. He favors foreign trade based on bribery. He opposes competition. That's why, when a foreign country like Taiwan manufactures a product, Trump says they're "stealing" our business.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Look, if we had smart presidents, the Taiwan problem with China wouldn't exist. Nobody would care. They stole our chip business. All of it. 100 percent."

Suburban residents are at a huge increased risk of death by house fire because there is not enough of a tax based to pay for the fire fighters needed to cover the suburbs and also we prioritize automobility and driver thruput so we build a shit tonne of speed humps which slow response times.

Once again these people need to go to prison for their crimes. Frankly they committed genocide, and should be punished accordingly.

If they can satisfy their racist impulses by endorsing Trump but still get everything they want when dems are in power they will never stop endorsing Trump

I don’t think this is exactly what’s going on, or all that’s going on. It’s not that Republicans are constructing an elaborate psychological defense against evidence that Trump is a rapist. It’s that they like that he’s a rapist, and they like rape: it enacts the power of the strong over the weak.

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.

That’s also why Vivek isn’t exactly lying when he says he didn’t mean to say Acton lied about being raped as a child. He doesn’t think she lied; he thinks that being raped disqualifies her from office, because she belongs to the class of people power is wielded against, not the class that wields it.

The thing that continues to amaze me about Trump is he is one of the absolute worst people that has ever lived. Even some of the greatest monsters in history have some sort of feature that we could all relate to, like Stalin clearly loved his younger kids. But with Trump there is nothing.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

The president has raped so many people that we have a pretty good sense of his MO. Maybe we should think about that.

Like he doesn’t like animals, he doesn’t really seem to like his family. Like there is nothing there, just an empty gaping void of narcissism, envy, hatred, and jealousy.

1. Not sure when a new, on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president isn’t considered news — especially considering Trump was found liable by a jury in a similar case — but it was ignored by most mainstream media outlets

Look I just need to remind everyone that many farmers in the U.S. are just landed gentry. They are actually quite wealthy, but have cash flow problems (just like landed gentry throughout history) and will keep voting for the reactionary party that will help them.

Diedrich Bader@diedrichbader.bsky.social

*shakes head sadly* Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene

Fucking American landed gentry is just like every other landed gentry. Reactionaries who really just need to be crushed out of existence through taxation and destroying their subsidies and have their lands taken away.

Chatham Harrison dba TRUMP DELENDUS EST@chathamharrison.bsky.social

The trick here is that farmers aren't regular voters. Most farmers are professionals like her who know on which side their bread is buttered. They're wealthy landowners with perpetual cash flow issues. Even if Trump threatens the latter, Dems threaten the former, & the former is their identity.

If I were to do something that would get Mr. Reinford to come out and protest me I would just commit seppuku on national television.

Something happened in the 70's that crystallized politics (and many other topics) into a new set of assumptions and priors. It gave rise to Reaganism and completely crushed New Deal Socialism; Dems that eventually reemerged were and still are centrists scared of their own shadows.

Wallahi I will make this fukken website know what happened in this country between 1966 and 1972, I have tolerated “the Dems just sold out for no reason one day and all became Big Money Uniparty Reaganites because they hate the pure and noble workers” for too long

The “something” in question was the workers themselves deciding by 1966 that they no longer wanted New Dealer welfare capitalism if it meant black Americans would benefit from it while anti-war protesters were free to burn the flag

I am entirely willing to say it and have said it, it’s white rural voters fault. They are racist and bigots who are never going to change unless we force them to. We were forced to drag the Southern states, literally over their actually violent objections into the 20th.

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

He would have opposed the great reform act and come up with some sort of sudo progressive/liberal bs to justify his opposition, and why the real liberal position is to prevent the people from having a say in government.
