After a whirlwind of a few months w/ a lot of life transitions, it feels good to get back out in the community & doorknock with @transpochoices.bsky.social to support more bus service in Pierce County! Prop 1 would be transformational for me personally and for our region. Vote yes! #Transit

It doesn't matter if someone doesn't understand transgender issues, adults bullying and excluding kids is always wrong. All children in Washington State deserve to be treated with dignity and fairness. All children. No exceptions.

One takeaway from tonight: just one Bellevue CM (Jared Nieuwenhuis) thinks that the city spending 29% of new transportation revenue on pedestrian and bike infrastructure is too much.

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

The Bellevue Council is considering a potential 0.1% sales tax and $20 car tab for transportation in a budget work session tonight. Kemper Development is here asking for those new dollars to be focused on road capacity, calling bike and pedestrian improvements "lower demand infrastructure."

Kelli is struggling to keep this going, so whatever you do, don’t like her post and make her evening more difficult. I would hate to pop some popcorn and spend my Friday watching her try to come up with more of these.

For anyone that's ever stepped foot at Starfire and has seen the hard working groundskeeper working tirelessly, this is your turn to step up for him. Antonio was detained by ICE and his family doesn't deserve this. Please donate to help support him and his family. www.gofundme.com/f/help-bring...

The article mentions the area was once home to dozens of strawberry farms owned by Japanese immigrant families who were dispossessed of their land during their WWII internment. It fails to mention that Freeman's grandfather founded the Anti-Japanese League that advocated for internment. Weird.

The Kemper organization also spends a lot of time and energy on trying to maintain Bellevue's car-centricism.

The Japanese-concentration-camp-advocating Freeman family to this day continues to apply political pressure to force entities, like Bellevue College, to take down history and art criticizing their family www.cascadepbs.org/culture/2020... Also they are big donors to Brian Heywood’s hate campaign!

blue cities/states need to build a metric fuckton more homes to make room for those who want to live somewhere they can raise a trans kid, get an abortion, live in a hospitable climate. If we don’t make room for all the new neighbors we clearly aren’t as welcoming as our lawn signs suggest

one piece of advice i can share as a parent: certain phases can be really tough, but they do pass. around 18 months my son kept demanding that i condemn hasan piker. all day and night too, i was at the end of my rope. now he’s really into fire trucks. it’s always something new

For a city with six light rail stations, Bellevue has terrible bike infrastructure, with some very limited exceptions. Crossing the many places with freeway on-ramps is especially perilous. Even where there are paths they are often badly marked and not enough curb cuts to access them.

We'd also like to see the city repurpose existing curbspaces, including on-street vehicle parking spaces, into corrals for parking micromobility vehicles. Such intersection daylighting projects improve visibility and safety for vulnerable road users.

So many of you have been telling me to do this for literal *years*, and I'm so excited that I'm finally taking the plunge with this. But I'm going to need your help to cover the program's fee. No sugarcoating especially since many of you already know, but CSB runs lean. But we still get shit done.
