The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

I wonder what sort of licensing fee Open AI paid Studio Ghibli to build the database that trained Chat GPT to be able to generate images in their style so accurately it must've been HUGE right? Right? RIGHT? 🙄

Fact: No matter how we generate electricity, Australia needs new and upgraded transmission lines. Scrapping our Rewiring the Nation plan is a reckless and dangerous thing to do.

This is astonishing. Does anyone know the US journo who backed up the Sky News reporter? Massive props to him.

🗣️ “Why don’t you go back to your own country”. US representative Marjorie Taylor-Greene snaps at Sky’s Martha Kelner when asked about the accidental leaking of sensitive messages on Signal. Watch the moment 👇

The electorate feels more divided and more disengaged than ever. Really enjoyed the podcast this week... the usual suspects... @lenoret.bsky.social @miketicher.bsky.social and @bridie.bsky.social chatting through how these fractures may shape the election campaign:

Oh cool! Nice to be reminded about this tiny, invisible creature whose sting hurts worse than death.

Snakes are great nightmare fuel but by far the most dangerous animal in Australia is the human! That said, Steve Irwin’s best mate knows all of the dangerous everything and the creature that he’s most afraid of is the irukandji. I got reminded of this great little piece by @joelwerner.bsky.social

Nice thread here. Antony was also an important voice for democratic reform. His advocacy for transforming the broken Senate voting system into what we have now — one of the best and fairest voting systems in the world — was vital. Will be missed!

Antony Green transformed the way we think about elections in Australia and has become an icon of Australian democracy.

I really want to know who was so eager to scrub the LSST page like this

NEW: Vera Rubin was a pioneering female astronomer. The federal webpage for an observatory named for her now excludes mention of efforts to diversify science. “I’m sure Vera would be absolutely furious,” said a co-author of a biography of Rubin. By @lisalsong.bsky.social

Back in 2018, when we were making No Feeling Is Final, we didn't dare dream that people would still be listening to/talking about the show SEVEN YEARS later. But I'm so glad they are. I'm so proud of this show, and what it means to people. And this article from @bencannon.bsky.social really gets it.
