In Toronto-Danforth, Caryma Sa'd — whom I forgot was running until I accidentally found myself at a ward debate late Saturday night — finished 6th of 18:

The karmic realignment in ward 5, with Chiara Padovani winning after being cheated the last go-around, incumbent Nunziata coming in third after dismissing rumours of dropping out and IntegrityTO-backed DiGiorgio losing by a margin smaller than Nunziata's total votes has me feeling pretty optimistic.

I thought Toronto's Kids Vote initiative that ran during advanced voting was really great. My kid was really excited to participate, learned a lot and and staged a stuffy election of his own tonight. We discussed rejected ballots, analyzed the data and it got him interested in tonight's outcome.

I know no one gives a F about safety or the law when the province is involved - but those workers & police should be wearing PPE for this work. Did they cover the catchbasins? Did they warn residents to close windows? The city would never get away with this. www.gazzolapaving.com/files/employ...

TPS is going to have one hell of a WSIAT file for respiratory issues. At least we slowed them down tonight. It ain’t over till it’s over. And it‘s never over.

I built a fun little Chrome extension that lets plants invade your abandoned tabs the longer you leave them unread. To access them again, you have to slash through the vines 🪚🌿

We offered to help them remove it properly & salvage it. They refused the help. We were internationally recognized for this infra. I've talked to dozens of cities around the world who wanted to learn how to do it from us. And these f'ers are just paying their buddies to rip it out. I'm irate.

"just talk to another human" as you go on threads and let the threads algo feed you rage bait and then putting that onto bluesky to let the bluesky algo feed other people rage bait. lmao.

My ideal scenario is a four-axis graph: Dexterity Repetition Completion Time With Easy, Medium and Hard being presets of those four.

I would prefer if Difficulty Settings (easy, med, hard) were replaced with Free Time preference eg: How Much Free Time Do You Have? -Very Little! -Lots! because ultimately I feel that it comes down to: how much patience you have for dying and restarting? getting spotted by guards, etc

Getting a US work visa was one of the most difficult hurdles for my pro wrestling journey. I’ve been scratching my head for years on how I could help others with theirs The solution was surprisingly to build a very popular Canadian based wrestling promotion and throw A LOT of money at the problem.

Only around 40% of rush hour traffic at Bloor and Shaw in Toronto is made up of cars. Before the bike lanes on Bloor, over 80% of traffic was cars. Now more commuters pass through the intersection, although raw number of cars has decreased. If you build it, they will come.

Between cinemas being effectively horror-only for October and my neighbour celebrating the first day of autumn with dollar-store bloodied appendage decorations, we've unfortunately and yet again, let the extremists win.

macklemore gets a lot of flack for being corny because for awhile being corny used to be the worst thing an artist could be. but what ed sheeran did is the worst kind of artist today, one who doesn’t stand for anything except the belief that he has values. this is the new era of sellout

for two months, I've been flying drones over Flock cameras to situation them in space and geography; I even got my commercial drone license in order to do it. I'd like to share this project with you all: it's called Records Of Enemy Surveillance: recordsofenemysurveillance.com

boosters don't like to hear "some of the critics are extremely right on this one" and people fully against it don't like to hear "it actually has some real value that's not smoke and mirrors"

my actual attitude about AI right now is that it's really useful for software dev but we have to find practices that mitigate the intellectual and material / environmental harms before we uncritically adopt it, and that means engaging with critique

one of my least favourite leftist trends is people deciding on some moral stance as an individual and then telling people if they disagree they are ‘crossing a picket line’ there’s something so neoliberal about conflating an organised workplace with ~online vibes~

maybell🌻@maybell.itch.io

admitting ai is causing the world to "suck" and also choosing to use them is crossing the picket line. it is time for introspection.

1/6 A/I may be ending. The story is nowhere near over. For twenty-five years, #AutisticiInventati showed what it could mean for movements to build and control their own communications infrastructure. Its loss should not send everyone searching for the next single service to replace it.

"We're the only generation that realizes how stupid the younger generations are."

Sky Marchini@sky.skymarchini.net

“Millennials are the only normal generation” theory continues to remain undefeated. we are the only ones that didn't get our brains cooked by the computer

For me, the reply count labeler has been far more useful than any of the pro/anti AI labelers. Too many on the anti/pro side don't understand the tech at all/only understand the tech, and neither side has done enough of the philosophy readings. Whereas "this person posts a lot" is... illuminating.

we have so many fucking problems in Toronto and it's criminal how much time is spent worrying about bike lanes, a thing that everyone can agree isn't the problem. It's honestly distressing to see so many wildly corrupt people in power able to do whatever they want without consequence.

Of note is that this was only for home video. I think the theatrical approach - each theatre gets *one* different ending - is even more novel and fun.

Nick Fox-Gieg@n1ckfg.bsky.social

I love how 40 more years of perspective on multiple endings in film and TV just adds more experimental confirmation--the Clue (1985) way, using all the endings in ascending order of wackiness, is absolutely the best one

This is the way, but it threatens Canadian capital so very few businesses are going to invest in 100% Canadian supply chains.

Edin, in response to someone else: Europeans, esp. Dutch, have shown a pattern of obfuscation just like this. Hans: They couldn't do anything! There weren't enough of them! They weren't even there! Also whatabout this other thing?! Hans: ... but yeah, totally agree that Mladic is evil. OBFUSCATION!
