Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

girls only want one thing and it is a single aspect of human life that has not been intentionally made worse in the interest of chasing limitless profit

I am similarly going to condemn this action. Distracted driving is extremely dangerous and I see it so often in Vancouver as a driver, a cyclist and a pedestrian. By which I mean I have been hit by distracted drivers several times, and have loved ones who have been killed by distracted drivers.

Distraction is the second leading cause of fatal crashes in our region and province. We hope that all candidates take that seriously, especially those from a party campaigning on public safety. (Video from ABC School Board Candidate Lina Vargas on Instagram)

Voyager 1 is running on less memory than a single photo in your camera roll—69 KB. Its data is saved to an 8-track tape & software was developed when "the cloud" was in the sky. NASA sends commands and the old thing answers. And yet your brand new laptop freezes because you opened too many tabs.

Ireland's artist basic income returned €1.39 for every €1 spent. They made it permanent. South Korea just announced plans to follow. Now Scotland too.

If you enjoy all the benefits of labour strikes and disruption but cannot stand in solidarity with workers, you’re either a class traitor or a boot licker. A friendly reminder, the benefits of parental leave, vacation, set working hours, etc were all fought with blood and human lives. #Solidarity

Labour groups are warning about new Liberal changes coming to a little-known section of the Canada Labour Code that the government has used to try and end several high-profile strikes. thetyee.ca/News/2026/09...

it’s fun how my landlord insists that my upstairs unit have the ugliest, hardest to clean carpet “for the noise”, but the downstairs neighbours stomp-walk, constantly drag their chairs across their laminate such that it vibrates my teeth, and have kids that body slam the walls when upset

Seriously. I've never been more in love with nephew-made logos

Katie Tiedrich@katietiedrich.bsky.social

I’m not the first person to make this observation but the prevalence of nauseating ai-generated business logos means stuff like this hits CRAZY for me now

TODAY is the last day to tell the city you want to see Granville stay open for people and closed to traffic! Make sure to fill out the survey, every positive response builds a stronger case for vibrant car-free streets in Vancouver.

Brent Toderian@brenttoderian.bsky.social

IMPORTANT: If you support how GRANVILLE STREET in downtown Vancouver was transformed this summer into a PEDESTRIAN STREET & PEOPLE-PLACE, THEN TELL CITY HALL! They have a short survey below going on until Monday Sept 7th asking how u felt about it. The survey will be open until Monday September 7th!

i’m extremely stressed about this

What’s been your favourite part of the People’s Primary, the five month long process to determine a left-wing candidate in Vancouver’s mayoral election? It’s definitely resulted in a clear direction, memorable moments, a surge of momentum and an obvious frontrunner to take on Ken Sim.

"If trans people want a boycott of The New York Times, where's the call to do so?" Here is a declaration laying out how the NYT is a key driver of trans genocide, why boycotts work and why anyone who gives a damn about trans lives and rights must boycott The New York Times.

transnews.networkBoycott The New York TimesFor years The New York Times has relentlessly pushed anti-trans propaganda, playing a significant role in the escalating genocide against us. It's far past time for a call to action: anyone who cares ...

Maybe I'm in the minority here but if people who support AI are being shamed into silence then it's working. The shame is working as intended. The left's biggest problem is that it's afraid to hurt the feelings of folks who need to have their feelings hurt. Let them experience introspection for once

[redacted person who does not know whose mentions they wandered into]: In my city, the cyclists are so entitled, they act like they own the roads. Me: LET THE BIKES OWN THE ROADS. THE BIKES ARE FAR LESS DANGEROUS AND POLLUTING BY ABSOLUTELY EVERY MEASURE. MAKE THE CARS PAY TOLLS TO THE CYCLISTS.

Here’s my video on Ken Sim’s plebiscite announcement today. I asked the mayor for a *specific law* that he wanted changed and strengthened if this passed, and I encourage you to watch for his answer.

*slams fist on table* we need to bring back video rental shops!!!
