watching Fellowship of the Ring and it’s crazy how dated this movie is now. the whole script is just them reading reddit memes from 20 years ago. “one does not simply walk into mordor,” “and my ax,” etc. Internet culture references never age well!
CNN's front page is just a wall of clickbait garbage about the debate. Since the headlines don't even hint at what Biden actually did wrong, I'm not even gonna read and assume it was... fine.
It was a superstitious belief that using an animal's true name would allow it to hear what you said, detect your presence & cast spells on you... so euphemisms were used ritually, like Russian 'medved' (медведь) meaning "honey-eater".
Other names: shaggy coat, bee-dog (Beowulf), brown one (bear).
You know who else, like Justice Thomas, was brought gifts with no expectations of anything in return by men who had travelled far? Yeah, that’s right, baby Jesus. So I guess you’re saying you hate baby Jesus.
@questauthority.bsky.social this is kind of completely random, but I recently learned of in re Neagle (1890), and I'm wondering about the precipitating events of that case. Do you think a judge or justice would or should recuse from a dispute where a former election opponent is a party's spouse?
