Good morning Bluesky ☀️ From time to time I like to repost this seminal exchange between Professor Stanley Unwin and Peter Hawkins, the voice of Bill and Ben.

Star Wars: A New Hope at Wigan ABC and I was awestruck. My uncle took my brother and me. Amazingly, I couldn't give a flying fuck about Star Wars and its various spin-offs these days. I never even bothered seeing Empire or Return at the cinema either.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

"Be seen, be safe" is a campaign that has been running in the UK for as long as I can remember.

Assistant Garda Commissioner Denis Ferry said "all pedestrians" including in urban areas should wear high visibility clothing. "I think you should do everything you can to ensure you're visible," he said. www.thejournal.ie/driving-phon...

I've ordered a 100000 lux light to help with SAD when the clocks ho back. Only £20, so if there's no difference in my mood I haven't lost that much.

Just had one of Aldi's instant porridge pots and it was bloody awful. I know Aldi is cheap, but there's a reason for that; the quality is lacking in too many of their products.

My new neighbours are doing DIY at this time of night. I know the house needs a lot of work but ffs, there's a time limit. I might nip home from work at the weekend and start hammering at 2.00am, see how they like it.

The day the clocks go back is the most depressing day of the year. Only eight weeks until the days start getting longer again.

United being given a football lesson in Como. No Man U manager could get a decent game out of the garbage at their disposal.

The fella with the eyepatch is magnificent. Good luck understanding what he says, though.

Odd This Day@oddthisday.bsky.social

Today is, rather wonderfully, the 31st anniversary of this excellent report from RTE (Ireland’s public service broadcaster) about DIRTY MUCKY FILTH coming to Cork in the form of Utopia Adult Products, a sex shop which owed its existence to… [checks notes] er, Saddam Hussein

I've regularly ironed shirts again before leaving the house because they've creased while wearing them around the house. Don't iron if that's what you want, but I'm not walking around looking like a scruffy, lazy twat.

Anon Opin@anonopin.bsky.social

Amount of people these days walking around with creased clothes is shocking. Iron your fucking clothes.

I didn't send this in, but I wholeheartedly agree with it, unlike most in the replies. They're called 'scented candles' not 'flavoured candles'. Calling them flavoured brings to mind the kid eating crayons.

Anon Opin@anonopin.bsky.social

If you refer to candle fragrances as "flavours", then you should be banned from using naked flames.

I can't get over how ridiculous they look. Also, is there any need for these films?

Pop Crave@popcrave.com

Sony is considering a same-day release for all four Beatles biopics. The studio is also weighing a four-pack ticket and combining the films' box office returns.

One of those days today where I've woken up with what feels like the weight of the world on my shoulders, and that I might burst into tears at any moment. Think I'll just spend the day in bed.

I am getting good things.

At Liverpool Philharmonic to see Reece Shearsmith talk about his book "Things I Took From The Dark". I enjoyed Stage/Fright last year, so I'm expecting good things.

This is why #wafc are better off with Danson's tight grip on his wallet. We've been at the whims of dodgy owners twice, don't want that again. Majority of clubs on edge of 'financial disaster' - regulator - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...
