Sweeney tries to make out he's saying this in defence of the beleaguered indie devs who want to use AI, but remember that his company laid off 1000 people earlier this year before pivoting to AI. He's taking this stance for one reason: he loves money

This passed 8-1, the sole dissenting vote? Connie Chan, who's going up against Scott Wiener in CA-11 this November. Here's hoping Chan loses by a margin that reflects her awful policy stances on housing and nearly everything else.
The SHADE Act has been passed into law today by Mayor Lurie! Over the past 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been blocked or delayed because NIMBYs said the housing would cast a "shadow". So we're done letting red tape cast shade over our housing future.

I'm of similar mind. Big part of art is that it's an expression of a skill. It's not just about the end product - what makes art impressive are the (dozens of) thousands of hours a person dedicated to honing their skill. You take that away and the end result is a lot more hollow.
One of the most disappointing things for me personally with the advent of AI is that it has damaged my ability to be impressed with software. Whether it be open-source projects, games, mods, sites, etc. I can admire the skill involved to develop something, but not if it's a machine doing it.

I have been meaning to write about this for a month or so now but it breaks my heart. AI has infected every hobby. Everything is noise. It's hurting existing communities and trudging through the slop is exhausting.
Every single hobby I love has has been infected by slopped up and unserious software. It's exhausting. aftermath.site/ai-slop-hobbie...

yet again, corruption in the dems via fundraising shouldn't be seen mostly as "personally fattening individual already wealthy electeds wallets" and more as "making sure everybody's loser nephew or cousin has a cushy six figure job with benefits"
We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.
