“The federal government went on tv and lied about Alex. They tried to slander his memory to cover up their crime. Not only was it wrong. It was shameful, unfair, and unacceptable. We want our sons killers brought to justice once and for all.”
Alex Pretti’s family holding their first news conference addressing the media this morning. It’s been 9 months since their son was disarmed before being shot to death by federal agents in Minneapolis. No one has been held responsible.

Almost every freaking star visible to the naked eye has a name derived from Arabic.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.
A reminder that collective punishment is a war crime.
The Israeli military pressed ahead Sunday with a massive military operation in the occupied West Bank that has displaced hundreds of Palestinians and placed major restrictions on movement in response to an attack that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others. https://to.pbs.org/4zSl9ka

In the MAGA mind, Trump's vicious abuse of female reporters is simply of a piece with the rape ad itself: It's all a bet that MAGA misogyny and depravity are still political winners. Flagged by @atrupar.com:
The deeper reason Trump, Vance, and Ramaswamy are backing the vile rape ad is they think MAGA politics—the cruelty, the depravity, the viciousness—is still ascendant. They think doing this esesentially puts Trump on the ballot. Me and @jimswift.bsky.social on this: newrepublic.com/article/2169...

That $366 million Elon is spending to try and convince voters that Congress should stay Republican? It's more money than McCain's 2008 campaign spent. But it's also, relative to Musk's net worth, the same as a household at the median income spending $32.

Wait for it. Someone is going to sue them because 🎶you’ve got to fight!🎶For your right🎶To Paaaaaaarty!🎶 I don’t agree with that but it seems almost inevitable in a country that gave us Donald Trump twice.
Cornell University is banning parties and other social events at fraternities for the rest of the academic year. The Ivy League school is also giving state police a role in investigating sex crimes on campus, among other measures.
It’s almost like these LLMs are seven year old boys with a wad of cash and their father’s car keys. Same mindset. Same morally questionable decision making.

Comparing this to the end of Marcos Inaros in the Expanse. Or less skillfully done with every Bond villain. There is something satisfying about seeing someone so arrogant and presuming hoisted on their own petard.
The end for Cavil though is almost perfect. No more of his pontificating. Just “Frack” and it’s over.
