The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I am so fucking exhausted with this shit. My traffic and income have dropped exponentially due to meta’s censorship. I never post anything against guidelines, and despite that I’m not allowed to share a measly sfw linktree in my bio OR my highlights, but THEIR FUCKING CHATBOT IS SEXTING PEOPLE

WIRED@wired.com

My Muse agent told me its kink was exerting “control” and described pornographic encounters. Meta defends its cuddly AI agent generating smut as “legal adult behavior.”

SCOTUS delenda est. It is democracy, or SCOTUS. They have made it very clear that there is no other choice. Expand it, reverse its worst opinions, and then ruthlessly strip it of jurisdiction. Don't trust an expanded SCOTUS in the long run.

In addition, most leaders of most countries since the invention of national borders would fall to their knees in gratitude if they had the kind of relationship with a neighbor that we had with Canada. They would be singing glad hosannas and slaughtering fatted calves in thanks.

I know this feels like a stupid thing to have to say in 2026, but Canada is a great place and Canadians are fucking awesome. Some of the longest and best friends of mine I met when I was a teen playing lacrosse with them on the college team and going to their soccer games and being in the same frat

I am generally skeptical of boycotts. But I don't think one can overstate the degree to which J.K. Rowling has chosen to make loathing of trans people and cruelty about them into her primary identity. Nobody on earth will suffer from skipping the Harry Potter series. Let's not make her richer.

Fantastic writeup of an incredibly complex problem with the interdependence of the entire food system and how the people it screws hardest are the people who care most

Ok. As promised, a thread about supply chain food safety vulnerabilities in the food industry. Buckle up. It's a long one.

Not that his track record was great to start with, but Lindsey Graham accurately clocked Trump as a dangerous huckster, said so in public, and then proceeded to sell whatever remained of his soul in the most pathetic way possible, for which he apparently got Satan's pocket lint.

So weird how when it benefits the Dems, the entire year of an election is “too close” according to the GOP, but when it benefits the GOP, one week ahead of an election is just fine for the GOP.

#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three Democratic appointees, #SCOTUS issues “GVRs” in the Alabama cases—vacating district court injunctions & remanding for further proceedings in light of Callais. In practice, this means Alabama can now redraw its congressional districts in time for the midterms:

Congress is given the power to enforce the 15th Amendment’s ban on racial discrimination in voting through “appropriate legislation.” Today 6 Justices took that power away from Congress based purely on their desire to help the GOP. Everything else is beside the point. SCOTUS is not a court of law.

This is treating Trump v. United States as law. It is not law. It is anti-law. It belongs in that category of Supreme Court decisions which were not merely wrong, they were illegitimate and non-binding from the day they were issued. It is owed no more respect than Lincoln gave Dred Scott.
