Holy bulgogi! I did NOT expect such a surge of followers. If you're just following me for the first time: I skeet about housing, tech and identity. My biggest pet peeves are modern day segregation and opportunity hoarding along lines of race and class. Esp here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you havent seen "Core Lord" satire on YouTube, you will get a sense of the personalities that own our coast lines. Build more housing. youtu.be/60mhsrzI8Xc?...

A new example of the unique brainworms found in the San Francisco left: DSA-SF has apparently refused to take a position on Proposition G, which would destroy Sunset Dunes park and reopen the Great Highway to cars. Why? It doesn't achieve "working-class justice."

It is still insane to me that the most popular bus routes in the city are forced sit with private vehicle traffic.

SF Bay Area could totally double that per capita ridership there

In June 2026, the US urban areas with the highest per-capita transit ridership were: 1—New York 2—San Francisco 3—Washington, DC 4—Boston 5—Seattle www.thetransportpolitic.com/databook/us-...

Again, let's just stop & remember that age-based legal restrictions on access to social media/online services are a bad idea & infringe the rights of young people to speak, access information and arts & culture, find community and play. Then look at the madness involved in trying to make them work.

UK officials admit that they will do "hard checks" to enforce the under-16 social media ban after Australia's failures and will require platforms to verify via passport, license, or credit.

Just about sums up all my cringe and discomfort with AI safety evangelism.

Imagine if instead of regulating drone risks the normal way (which we did), we instead paid weird bloggers lots of money to worry about superintelligent dogs sprouting thumbs and using drones to kill us. This is pretty much how the US is approaching AI risks and regulations. My latest:

old time segregationists=keep them out modern day segregationist=keep them out until we solve the segregation problem

As I've been hosting workshops on housing, a point I regularly bring up is desegregation was once a goal, but now its largely forgotten or ignored. Reactions to this have been surprising, but has reaffirmed my belief that desegregation has to be the goal again for housing advocates.

You can either believe that technology has ruined an entire generations moral character. Or you can believe that relationships increasingly mediated through platforms that sell it's users selfish optimization, will naturally produce more of these horror stories. The former is for boomers. Sorry.

It's a beautiful thing to see people democratically decide never to allow anyone but themselves to democratically decide things.

It is legitimately insulting that we live in a time where democracy ACTUALLY IS under attack, but a bunch of neighborhood busybodies who hate housing think not having enough meetings is an assault on democracy. Get a grip missionlocal.org/2026/09/rich...

There is no "public transit" in capitalism. But replace public transit with anything you want to guarantee inaction. (I say this as a critic of capitalism)

my bad, I'll start the world socialist revolution this monday instead of petitioning against transit service cuts🥀

If anyone asks me what animates me as YIMBY, it is to put a check on the outsized power these people have over our lives. Not because I get off on seeing construction. Just to clarify.

The reason not to triangulate against trans people isn't that it's bad politics (although I believe it is) or unnecessary (although I believe it is). It's because YOU MUST NOT ABANDON THE VULNERABLE TO DEPRAVED PEOPLE WHO WILL DO THEM HARM. If we will, what's the point of anything else we do?

This is great news. I for one support journalism's major shift to covering out-of-context sound bites extracted from hundreds of thousands of hours of jibberish streamed during games of Fortnite. Policy is for losers.

Wheeeee

If only the "online left" saw capitalism as a question of attention as much as material production, they would realize that all their favorite people essentially have an industrialist monopoly on the means of attention and would be damned if they ever shared it in any meaningful way.

Ned Resnikoff@resnikoff.bsky.social

As I keep saying, professional influencers are petty bourgeois entrepreneurs who make their money by harvesting attention, and that position in the capitalist economy tends to lend itself to a certain kind of politics.

To my fellow San Franciscan urbanists: if you are feeling jaded at the level of political intransigence of the West Side, please know that even the most car-pilled of people can be won over by good urbanism.

Even in death-by-process SF politics, where everything is feels like just a re-litigation endurance match, progress on walkable cities is actually pretty sticky, and that's a beautiful thing.

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview. IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing. Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

I could be taking a hasty position here, but it only stands to reason that the AI companies will over cultivate the "it's too powerful!" narrative to stay relevant rather than to express genuine concerns over safety.
