Windows 10 End of Life is in less than 2 weeks! But you don't have to upgrade to Windows 11!! This video will show you how to extend the life of Windows 10 by 3 more years via Extended Security Updates program safely, for free. MS throws you to the wolves, but the wolves will throw you a bone.

i haven’t been using my blog much these days as i’ve been pretty busy in life should i make the conscious effort to post more or should i just keep posting whenever i feel like it?

SCOOP — The US sent Iraqi refugee Omar Ameen to Rwanda via new diplomatic relationship in which they've agreed to act as a "third country" for deportees unable to be safely returned to their country of origin, per cables reviewed by me. This is first reported instance. Cable indicates more to come.

i still think domain verification is a great solution but as someone who often explains DNS to large bureaucratic institutions these days, trust me when i say that quick and easily recognizable account verification is necessary too. especially for verifying authenticity in moments of breaking news

Bluesky’s new verification process launches today. It mixes the old-school, Twitter-style blue check bestowed by the platform with a more decentralized option for trusted organizations. www.wired.com/story/bluesk...

After writing my history of concentration camps, I came to believe that short of committing murder yourself, one of the worst things you can do is to abet or exploit the suffering of another human being to increase your own power in the world.

We've reached the point where Republicans are flying to El Salvador to visit one of the most vicious prisons in the world to have photo ops so they can prove their loyalty to the President of the United States.

something i hope more people do on bsky is follow @ap.brid.gy . especially large/notable accounts . it bridges your account to Mastodon meaning people using Mastodon instances can see your posts and interact with you

sudden growth means literally everything breaks and grinds the team into dust, gnashing them in the teeth of their own ambitions, mocking them with their hopes and dreams. aka, success

Note from one of the Bluesky team: it is helpful to use some consistent keywords when reporting (the other two mentioned later were "troll" and "scam".)

Why@why.bsky.world

when you report them, make sure to put the word 'bot' in the reply comment, it will help us respond to them faster.

looks like graze.social makes it extremely easy to emulate the following feed of any other user on the network — see through someone else's "eyes" instantly! super cool

Beyond what’s mentioned below, Bluesky is also the possibility of ads under the right circumstances: “If we ever were to do ads, it would look a lot more like how ads work on the web, where it’s intent-based.” www.marketingbrew.com/stories/2024...

marketingbrew.comBluesky has more than 21 million users. Where does it go from here? The platform won’t touch ads for now, and is instead focused on paid subscriptions, payments, and getting more people signed up, its COO said.

Bluesky will be launching a subscription service by the end of the year. There are no details yet on how many tiers. Premium tiers will likely include higher-resolution pics, more/longer video uploads, and profile/page customization aesthetics. Longer term, there's a monetization plan for creators.

The only thing that really concerns me here is the monetization plan. A system through which people can tip certain creators if they like their stuff might be one thing, but any monetization plan based on likes/views/replies would be game over. We don't need engagement farming to pick up steam here!

By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section! This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins. emilyliu.me/blog/comments

no offense but i’d pay bluesky a small amount of every month compared to not doing it for twitter because elon musk is evil and so far bluesky hasn’t been evil. not having any ads on here at all has been a major reason why this platform rocks too and i’d contribute a little to keep it that way

A troll’s only purpose in life is to troll you. Your anger is like oxygen to them. When you take that away from them, they shrivel up and die. What’s up, Bluesky! 👋

To be clear, we do have plans for scaling, we just kinda expected more than a couple days notice before getting blasted with a million new users a day. The team is rapidly deploying fixes and new software to adapt. More servers in the mail.
