Unbelievably bad news coming down the line...😱

Prof. Eliot Jacobson@climatecasino.net

Breaking News! Code: y-Axis Alert! Yesterday's Nino 3.4 preliminary sea-surface temperature anomaly set a new record high, at 3.48°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. To clearly show this anomaly, the y-axis max was raised to 4.0°C. Attention historians: this is gobsmackingly bananas.

The long-term rate of CO2 growth is currently at a record 24.35 ppm per decade. Net-zero by 2050? 2070? Ain't gonna' happen. Well, it might. But for another reason.

We are well ahead in the race to extinction...

Records come and records go. But this is one for the ages. The preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.23°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. This crushes the previous daily record set in 1982 by over 1.14°C. The Climate 8-ball is looking up.

24 septembre 2026 : encore 37 °C en France. Si cette température était un épisode isolé, je n'en ferais pas un post. Mais ce n'est justement pas le cas car cela dure depuis le mois de mai.

With global temperatures quickly falling, this year saw 88 days with the global surface temperature above 16.5°C, the second most on record. The record holder is 2024, having 92 days above 16.5°C. The Climate Casino is taking the OVER on 100 days above 16.5°C in 2027.

A short thread on “legitimate concerns”. The phrase is used repeatedly by UK government ministers. The Home Secretary is at it again this week. But only ever - as far as I can tell - in one context: people’s response to the arrival of asylum seekers. Please read whole 🧵before responding - thanks

Dear government, don’t send startling, high-pitched alerts about wildfires to ordinary people's phones. Send them to the CEOs of fossil fuel companies and make them impossible to switch off until they stop the destructive plunder that's contributing to climate change.

Here's another graphic demonstrating that the planet has already passed 1.5°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline, this time using monthly averages, with a prediction to pass 2.0°C by late 2036.

Exactly. There will be no new normal. The weather will keep becoming more extreme until the world decarbonises. We might have the odd calmer year but the trend will be more extreme. So today’s UK weather is the least extreme we can ever expect. Time to finally WAKE UP.

NO! It's going to keep getting hotter year-on-year, decade-by-decade Until we stop pumping out greenhouse gases and positive feedback loops and tipped tipping points have finished with us And the temperature will stay elevated for many thousands of years www.theguardian.com/world/video/...
