yet again, I used basic algebra to figure out a dumb ticketing math thing, thus vindicating my high school math teachers who said I would still need algebra even if I went into the theater. of course if the venue had provided the correct reports I wouldn't have had to do algebra.

This is one of the best pieces I have read on growing antisemitism on the left and how to confront it, falling into the trap of neither arguing that it is necessary to anti-Zionism nor denying or downplaying it. Predictably, people all seem to be commenting without reading.

the first time I tried to use this I loaded the film completely incorrectly and it took me an unreasonable amount of time to figure out I had fucked up.

Show me a picture of your phone that has your energy, but isn't a selfie. (I had nothing in mind when I went to my camera roll and seriously this was the best lox I’ve had in ages.)

I went to read the article before u got mad, and she is specifically talking about stereoscope images, which are really cool to see in the device but it’s not animated the way we think of that. Idk, it depends on how it used but I understand wanting to show those images more completely

I've been told the "freelance pie advisor" is a famous chef who wrote a book about pies. I did not know. I also learned that he models for a friend's clothing store, Anglo Italian in London.

Lafayette Square isn't "a historic protest site." It's a fucking park. And it's packed on nice days. Calling it a protest site is White House framing. They're closing a popular public park to create a presidential palace Saddam Hussein would love.

Not only does the Israeli government not care about the safety of the Diaspora, they are actively willing to cultivate ties to figures who make antisemitism worse around the world, if it enables them to steal more land in the West Bank with global impunity. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

The people who'll laugh or shrug off the 'nuke Los Angeles & San Diego comment' are the same people who wanted Mamdani to not be at the 9/11 commemoration.

it was only $10K????? That's infuriating.

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

A 10K contribution and a $900 million return. The scale of the graft in Homeland Security is a) off the charts and b) possible because no-one believes they will face any accountability

I spent some time in Ojai this summer and got to see some beautifully designed gardens (Konica Autoflex TC and my light meter app obviously worked a bit better) #shittycamerachallenge #filmisnotdead #filmphotography

my friend picked me up at LAX in August and instead of fighting traffic we got nachos and sat on the beach until the traffic died down. (Konica Autoflex TC, the meter in the camera is busted so the overexposure is the fault of my phone app) #shittycamerachallenge

DC Scores is a terrific program that deserves more support

José Mauricio Umaña@joseumana.bsky.social

Not all parts of the U.S. saw a World Cup boom. D.C. Scores, a nonprofit that runs after-school programs using soccer and poetry, is pausing programming at 9 schools. Now, it looks to fundraise for the other 60 schools in its programs. My latest for @wtopnews.bsky.social: wtop.com/dc/2026/08/n...
