Hey, if you voted third party in 2024 or didn't vote as protest, I urge you to write down the feelings you're having right now on a piece of paper. Store that little note somewhere safe. In late October, retrieve and read it. Ask yourself if you want to continue feeling that way. Vote accordingly.

you can have a dinner that celebrates the First Amendment or a dinner that features Donald Trump but you cannot have both

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

The White House Correspondents’s Association just released a statement on Trump’s decision to attend the dinner

If we want broader coalitions, we can’t ignore why trust isn’t automatic.

Pushing white politicians on Black people comes with baggage that I don’t believe white people think about or consider before doing so

You know who’s never been on the frontlines and sacrificed anything and everything? That orange fucking TACO. That’s who.

Trump is getting sloppy and letting his inner “Epstein voice” slip out. Can you imagine hearing this as one of his young victims? “If I don’t sexually assault you, then someone else will. Now we can do this the easy way — or we can do it the hard way, but there’s nothing you can do to stop it.”

Q: Are Greenland's limits going to be respected? TRUMP: Well we're gonna see what happens with Greenland. We need Greenland for national security. If we don't go in Russia is gonna go in & China is gonna go in. And there's not a thing that Denmark can do about it. But we can do everything about it

I always felt the only “good” this con man did is lift up the carpet to expose all the ugly of this nation. America has been built on the suffering of others for the prosperity of a select few. So many clamor to be part of that few they realize too late (if at all) they never had a chance.

Kalen Dion is not wrong. 😳👇

If Cardinal Timothy Dolan is required to retire as Archbishop of New York at age 75, the same standard should be applied to the presidency, Congress, and the Supreme Court.

Important thread. I would also just note that it underscores how incredibly vital Bluesky is. It may be the smallest major platform, but it's the only one that hasn't been corrupted by fascists. It's crucial that it be protected.

Know who we are fighting. They will all need to go. Vought’s Shadow Presidency cannot be allowed to continue.

ProPublica@propublica.org

ProPublica’s @andykroll.bsky.social spent months chronicling Russ Vought’s rise from the Senate mailroom to one of the most influential players in the current Trump administration, where he has tried to fulfill his desire to put federal workers “in trauma.”

The Epstein list isn’t like team sports We don’t care if it takes down Democrats We don’t care if it takes down progressives We don’t care if it takes down our fave celebrity If you raped children, you must be held accountable If you trafficked children, same I don’t care what side you’re on

We’re not going to “fix the Democrats’ brand” by doing TikToks or launching pods. The brand is a direct reflection of our elected officials. If we want to purge our weak branding, we have to purge the weak Dems. I’m looking forward to a robust primary cycle and new Democrats who know how to fight.

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House. Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity. They are not the same.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP. Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP. The people who need help are not the problem. It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

Can someone please ask him how the GOP changed the 60 vote threshold twice in the last two months to approve 150+ trump appointees in one go? Cuz they are in charge and can change the rules to open the government. And they know it. They WANT the shutdown.

Mike Johnson: "Democrats are required to open the government. They keep saying, 'Republicans are in charge of government.' We aren't!"

That barista who makes your coffee just right. The cook at your favorite diner. Your kind neighbor who is on deployment. They all have jobs. They all need SNAP to make ends meet. When Trump & the GOP deride those who need some help, understand who they are talking about. It’s people like you.

Stephen Miller said the quiet part out loud. Trump has “plenary authority,” then suddenly went silent. Their plan wasn’t to be public yet. Clearly, someone hit the panic button in his earpiece. It gets weirder: CNN uploaded the interview with the “plenary authority” comment edited out. 1/2

Where’s the mass outcry for the silencing of free speech for Karen Attiah as their was for Jimmy Kimmel? 🤔 I wish I had WaPo again so I could cancel. Go get em Karen!

My latest in my fight against the Washington Post. I’ve filed a grievance against the Post through the WaPo Guild— and have sent a letter to Washington Post challenging my firing. Proud to have @normeisen.bsky.social + @katiephang.bsky.social in my corner. karenattiah.substack.com/p/the-washin...

Pay attention. Something dark might be coming. The murder of Charlie Kirk could have united Americans to confront political violence. Instead, Trump and his anti-democratic radicals look to be readying a campaign to destroy dissent. 1/ Here's what's happening.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Stephen Miller: "The last message that Charlie Kirk gave to me before he joined his creator in heaven was he said that we have to dismantle and take on the radical left organizations in this country that are fomenting violence. That was the last message that he sent me ... we are gonna do that."

"...people tend to fetishize big, aggressive, large-scale acts of “Resistance™” without remembering that small, individual acts of noncompliance are also tools...We can save a life, can ameliorate the suffering of a person, or can change a mind. Right now, that has to be enough of a reason to try."

I'm going to be on with @velshi.com at 11 to talk about my article on the small acts of noncompliance that we can take against our dispicable government. I guess Summer is over. www.thenation.com/article/acti...
