relistening to the soundtrack for Blade Runner, I realized what the sequel and what so many modern movies are missing that is so much of why they're not worth watching: genuine tenderness and vulnerability

I've said since early in trump's first term that he's so much like Aguirre in the film Now I see that this movie poster weirdly prophesied the orange skin bizarreness

Iran seems more capable of thinking truly strategically or our goals really aren't 'winning' this war

BREAKING Kuwaiti air defences are intercepting "hostile missile and drone attacks", the military says, as air raid sirens howl across the country

the remaining general staff after hegseth's purge(s? I'm losing track of everything insane this regime does) don't seem capable of beating my dad at Stratego. somehow, our military being eager to commit war crimes is supposed to be everything america needs to defeat capable foes.

Truly a haunting reminder that the people who say Mikie Sherill, JB Pritzker, Tim Walz, and Gavin Newsom have no choice but to have state police beat and gas protestors in order to keep Trump from installing martial law are not people to ever be taken seriously.

🚨 “GO!” 🚨 Near Delaney Hall on Day 10 of the hunger/labor strike, officers get the order — then sprint forward yelling “MOVE!” as protesters scatter. Moments later, mounted police begin moving in. WATCH LIVE ⬇️

Note to media: police arresting peaceful protesters singing “give peace a chance” is not protesters “clashing” with police. It’s the state violating the First Amendment rights of people upset that human beings who did nothing illegal are being held without due process and being fed maggots.

Important piece by Eliav in @haaretzcom.bsky.social. Israel’s refusal to grant ICRC access to Palestinian detainees is incredibly damning. US law requires such access for US LOAC detainees and the Biden administration repeatedly pressed Israel for ICRC access—without success.

Continuing to make serious progress in my mental health, thanks to the help I've received. I really could not do this alone. That keeps getting hammered into me. I wish had familial help, but that's something I cannot change.

Building communities where our babies, elders, families are safe is a top priority. That starts with resources, which is why I am so proud to present over $1 million in federal Community Project Funding to the City of Oakland's Department of Violence Prevention for Operation Ceasefire-Lifeline.
