Ohio gave the world leaded gasoline and chlorofluorocarbons. Where is the Thomas Midgley Jr. license plate commemorating Ohio's impact on the world?

And so trying to separate the Affordability Agenda from the Accountability Agenda is dumb. Our economy is being wrecked by the Unitary Executive.

Oh, it's just 'everybody stealing money from the state of Ohio' Thats not bad is it?

Want to hear the best part? They did private focus groups through Center of Christian Virtue.

All roads lead to Ramaswamy's chief strategist, Jai Chabria, and Strategy Group CEO Ben Yoho as the mastermind of the ad. Spokeswoman Connie Luck, who should probably already be in prison, should also never work in politics again for trying to cast doubt on Acton's well-documented trauma.

"If I have to create stories... then that's what I'm going to do" was how he defended the lying hate speech about Haitians eating their neighbors' pets (In Ohio, as it happens). It is no surprise at all that this doesn't bother him.

The Ramaswamy campaign actually had a little plausible deniability when it came to this ad, but they decided that instead of exercising that deniability they’d rather make absolutely clear that they’re on the side of protecting child rapists.

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

I spelled out "superpower suicide" in this essay from May 2026. Empires have risen and failed before, but to my knowledge no state has ever chosen to kill its own power, and succeeded with such rapidity. snyder.substack.com/p/on-superpo...

Tim Snyder: The term that I came up with… is superpower suicide. I just can’t see an example of a major country losing so much power so quickly as the United States under Trump. We’ve encouraged our enemies and we’ve made our allies not trust us.

If you want to really know how the outrage machine gets fired up: 1. Schmitt plans to drop “bombshell” on Smith 2. Someone plants story that Schmitt is a Vance VP contender to run same day 3. Right-wing Twittersphere gets talking points 4. Schmitt steps in it 5. Scheduled tweets go out anyway

Increasing the demand for gasoline by making everything more inefficient and demanding is pretty much as dumb as you get on policy. Plus, this contributed to rebuilding the Detroit mindset of the 1970's... so China can wipe out the whole US industry with EV's in one short decade.

The Trump administration on Monday finalized new lower vehicle fuel economy standards, in the latest effort to make it easier for automakers to sell gas-powered vehicles and to reverse a push by the Biden administration to force automakers to build more fuel-efficient vehicles.

Behold, Speaker Matt Huffman's palpable enthusiasm to discuss his $600 million handout to the Cleveland Browns weeks before Election Day.

Oh hell yes: Ohio House Democrats want to pay for Vivek Ramaswamy's gas tax holiday nonsense by repatriating the $600 million handout to the Cleveland Browns.

Governor DeWine and Fran DeWine were very close with Ms. Parton.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

The fundamental problem we face is that if a single Justice had changed their vote today and stripped citizenship from millions of people in violation of 150 years of black-letter constitutional law, virtually everybody with power and influence in this country would believe that be legitimate.

Kavanaugh’s concurring opinion attempts to divine the intentions and desires of the Fourteenth Amendment’s drafters without a single citation of anything they wrote.

Boy is Justice Clarence Thomas twisted... some of the most creatively expansive and imaginative "originalism" on display in his dissent. How do people with any aspiration to rigor or intellectual honesty defend? Start with the damned text, not your fanciful reconstructed assumptions about domicile.

The naked bloodthirstiness of the average Ohio Republican is truly something to behold in person. It’s even uncouth to the lizard cabal that’s the Supreme Court!

Craig Calcaterra@craigcalcaterra.bsky.social

Vivek is going to use this to boost his flaccid campaign. He'll make executing people his signature issue. And because even in a bad year for Republicans, a Republican has better than even odds of winning in Ohio, DeWine's announcement makes it MORE likely that Ohio will resume executing people.

JD Vance is a product of Peter Thiel, who is obsessed with Carl Schmitt. Schmitt argued that a dictator seizes power through a "state of exception"—when the rules are suspended due to some "emergency." "Sovereign is he who decides on the exception." Vance is vastly more dangerous than Trump.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

"Vance got to the point. They needed to invoke the Insurrection Act, swiftly, to crush the unrest in Minnesota. It would be painful in the short term, he said, but the message it would send — that paid agitators can't get away with disrupting ICE operations — would make sure no one tried it again."

Fool me 39 times, shame on you. Fool me 40 times ...

The New York Times@nytimes.com

Oil prices fell and stocks rose on Sunday after President Trump said the U.S. had reached a deal with Iran that would allow the “toll free” passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

When I think of the pandemic, I recall a brief time where Cuyahoga County cut homelessness by 50%. Hotels were empty, the county had money, shelters wouldn't work due to health guidelines, people were houses. The will evaporated (and a GOP Independence mayor knee-capped it.)
