Ossoff: The money that they took from you when they slashed Medicaid and defunded hospitals and nursing homes—They’re taking that money to buy corrupt, taxpayer-funded political ads on national television to try to promote the failed and broken president…

Reminder to not vote for independents.

Across Maine, Republicans are running for office as fake "independents." Not because they changed. Because they know an R can't win where they're running. We need to unmask them. Who’s the one in your district? I'll start in the replies. #mepolitics

Put aside the merits of policies and this is still one of the worst Congresses in history. Much of what Trump does would be 'bad but constitutional' if the GOP Congress passed bills for it, but they don't, and yet they also don't pass anything to rein him in, so it's a permanent governance crisis.

As a former trade official, I feel comfortable in saying that there has never been a president who was more clueless about trade and how it works than Trump. Maybe no official in our history. (Except possibly Peter Navarro.)

It would be nice if someone could explain this community note to him. Having a president with a basic understanding of how trade works doesn’t seem like a ton to ask. Meanwhile our farmers are getting crushed.

First came the collapse of colonial empires. Then, the collapse of the last vestiges of those, the so-called "superpowers." A just global order calls for a more equitable division of power among states. What Carney is getting at is a major historical watershed that is, I believe, well under way.

Mark Carney@mark-carney.bsky.social

The old order is not coming back. From the fracture, we can build something bigger, better, stronger, and more just.

As I said repeatedly during Trump 1.0, Trump sees the U.S. Treasury as his personal piggy bank. But back then, he couldn’t find a way to siphon it to himself. This time around, he has: shakedowns, crypto, and the slush fund. With the added bonus of paying off his own shadow army.

There are only three possible futures: a) everyone in the Trump admin goes to jail, rule of law partially restored; b) Dems retaliate in full, and maybe that's a deterrent; c) neither (a) nor (b), so lawless authoritarianism wins again, and when Republicans regain power they ramp it up even more.
