Referring to the harm as being caused by LLMs, when it is caused by people, actually serves to exonerate the people as if they did not make explicit decisions.

A coworker of mine made a great point today: "With all that money and all those engineers, they haven't figured out how to replace us yet and I don't think they ever will"

I can feel both the immense heartbreak of the world and still the awe inspiring inspiration at the same time today. My feeds are filled with all the wonderful messages Dolly left us. Just one post after another. Rest in peace Dolly.

It’s worse than this. Having been in the room with many of them (long ago, before I knew they were psychopaths), the tycoons who are left running the industry have an active contempt for ordinary people, including their own workers. They actively want to oppress, control and punish them.

I will never, EVER get over the fact that Aaron Swartz died because he allegedly trespassed while trying to access works that were mostly IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN, but open plagiarism and theft is acceptable now because it's suddenly in capital's interest for it to be.

mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social

They didn't like Aaron Swartz's goals (making scientific knowledge more accessible to the public) and they do like the LLM companies' goals (permanently crushing the labor market for knowledge workers)

"It's unethical to watermark the text *I wrote* with an LLM!" The whole point is you didn't write it, you used the automated capitalist plagiarism machine 🤷‍♂️

It's 2026 and sfc /scannow still fixes 90% of the frequent issues I have with Windows. Ridiculous.

Is it a good idea to discontinue your only in-demand product? Asking for reasons

The "Taco Bell diarrhea lettuce" is actually from Taylor Farms, *the largest fresh produce processor in the world*, and you can get it at Burger King, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Olive Garden, Wendy's, and IHOP, as well as Walmart, Kroger, Aldi, and Whole Foods. Why are we making this about Taco Bell?

I cleaned my coffee grinder which involved disassembly and I think it may have never been assembled correctly because it could barely handle a drip brew and now makes the finest coffee powder I've ever seen 😳

The pocket on the back of the passenger seat is called a map pocket 😎

The first time I saw James Carville on TV, I just thought he was a nasty Republican. Turns out I was right.

I'm glad Europeans have discovered ranch dressing. Maybe they'll stop eating mayonnaise on fries now.

A large pot sits in plain sight. There’s a frog in it. Every day, Leader announces his plans to boil the frog. His campaign slogan was “BOIL THAT FROG.” A man stirs the pot with a large stick. “It’s a metaphor,” he says. The frog is sweating.

Dolby Atmos in Apple Music is horrible. I was listening to a song I've heard hundreds of times and suddenly it sounded like the singer had a lisp. I'm glad I could disable it.

This is clearly a plot to eliminate the independent developer. Why let them take revenue from you when you can buy their code, train a model and slop together a first-party competitor with preference?

Jared Polis needs to be removed from power and Colorado Dems need to start doing things to limit his power and impact

Very interested to see how Gitlab thinks they will rebuild Git, a project they don't control, to "handle the load" of agentic workflows. Git is incredibly efficient at managing file history on disk.

Turner Classic Movies and Cartoon Network were such important cultural experiences as an angsty, nerdy gay boy. And working now in cable, Ted definitely made a big impact and left some big shoes to fill.

I needed a little miter box for cutting some metal with a hacksaw. 3D printed it instead of buying it, saved $15-20 and perfect for a thing that is mostly disposable already. Great success.

It's wild that investors are just now learning that manufacturing involves many suppliers and some of those may support semiconductor factories 😳
