It should not be lost on anyone that Minnesota Rep Melissa Hortman, who was shot to death in her home last night by an assassin, was a gun safety advocate who worked tirelessly to protect her constituents from gun violence.

I've made it 3 paragraphs in and already need a neck brace from involuntarily violent head nodding syndrome. I'm in vehement agreement and already have expanded my perspective too. Anyone know a good central valley chiropractor? Oh yeah, and read the actual post from @hazelweakly.me Just do it.

Your daily reminder that the U.S. Postal SERVICE is a service that is designed to benefit taxpayers and not a business that should be expected to turn a profit.

NEW: The U.S. Postal Service posted a net loss of $3.3 billion in this fiscal year’s second quarter mainly due to “significant challenges out of our control,” including workers’ compensation costs, Luke Grossmann, USPS chief financial officer, said at the open session of the governing board meeting

Not to be too pro technocrat, but it is astounding how much this country depended on the selflessness of like a few hundred thousand highly educated public servants who, for peanuts, made sure our food and medicine and environment etc were safe. And in return these servants were demonized.

Trump: "Everyone says, 'When, when, when are you gonna sign deals?' We don't have to sign deals ... they have to sign deals with us. We don't care about their market ... they'll either say, 'Great,' and they'll start shopping, or they'll say, 'Not good.' That's okay. You don't have to shop."

Trump on China: "They made a trillion dollars with Biden selling us stuff. Much of it we don't need. Somebody said, 'oh, the shelves are gonna be open.' Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls, and maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more."

It's dangerously wrong, not to mention pathetically weak, for the *senate opposition leader* to imply that constitutional crises only reach actionable levels once SCOTUS's authority is violated. What if SCOTUS is in on the constitutional coup?! Congress is its own branch, not a dependent variable.

Max Berger@maxberger.bsky.social

Schumer’s argument that we’re not in a constitutional crisis until Trump disobeys a Supreme Court ruling is also a colossal abdication of Congressional authority and responsibility. The admin has unconstitutionally usurped Congress’ spending authority. No court ruling is necessary.

not a new observation but Elon Musk genuinely isn't very bright, genuinely has no idea how most things work, and his entire supergenius engineer persona is a tech press-enabled mythology (they've never been held accountable for)
