this one's pretty specific but I exist in a constant state of mild annoyance at the deterioration of the word "roguelike". I love STS but you are NOT like Rogue. I have to call things "traditional roguelikes" now

genre Kesslerizaton: when a game breaks with some of the traditions of its advertised genre and become popular enough to influence future games in the genre, repeated ad nauseum until the genre loses its identity see: roguelikes, immersive sims(?), survival games
