I concur. The Goode and Peretti murders showed that, like their victims, this regime is not bulletproof.
I do think when historians look back the period the exact moment where it flipped and started going the other way won’t be anything any politician did but my Minneapolis neighbors weathering the worst of the regime in the streets, rallying together, fighting back, and winning

Zacharia: "A lot of the misinformation, miscommunication is around the fact that I labeled myself a lawyer. I consulted for a long time many people in the field -- 'Is it ok if I label myself a lawyer?' -- and they said, 'Absolutely. You can call yourself a lawyer. You have a JD'"

"Socialist Fury" AOC's car breaks down in a small town in rural Kentucky. She must defeat the local white supremacists to get the parts she needs to fix her car. One of the side quests is protecting a Planned Parenthood clinic. You get bonus points if you register people to vote.

Wonder when Shellenberger or Weiss will get around to condemning actual governmental censorship like this: arktimes.com/arkansas-blo...

My takeaway from Trump's remarks was not that he was "inviting" Iran to nuke LA, which I genuinely don't think he was, and they can't do anyway. It was that we shouldn't have a president who is so mentally fried that we have to talk about whether he actually invited Iran to nuke LA or not.

It’s the “Good czar, bad boyars” thing that Russians use to excuse Putin. It’s not the tyrant’s fault, it’s the fault of the advice the tyrant gets. It’s so stupid. Also, so is Tillis, and everyone pretending like he’s anything but a gutless coward when it matters.
RUHLE: Why are we blaming Kristi Noem and Pete Hegseth, who you voted to confirm? All of this is happening at the president's direction TILLIS: Maybe some people aren't accustomed to hiring. Have you hired anybody before?

I think he's overestimating how many people were even aware of Trump's convention, but I love the vibe here.

Those fearing a US version of North Korean TV forgot an essential fact: Trumpers are too fucking lazy to create a full-on 24/7 propaganda channel. Instead, it's just a bot account replaying old speeches Don’t Worry, America: ‘Trump TV’ Isn’t State TV. It Just Sucks! www.wonkette.com/p/dont-worry...

"Mr. President, some of your immigration enforcement efforts have gone too far." "The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today." -Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla), a former broadcast journalist, direct to camera in campaign ad #FL27

I’ll remind my UK pals that the first time it became legal for one man to buy an election in the US (2024 FEC advisory opinion), it happened and he installed a fascist. You can act and you must!
A serious democratic society simply cannot allow this. That's £72 million from just two men. (Both, until lately, based overseas). The average UK earner (full-time) would have to work for over 1,800 years to raise that much. It's a nuclear strike on any pretence at the equality of political power

Yep. Keep hammering the contradiction between JD Vance's pretend outrage over El-Sayed's invocations of Usha on one side, and Trump tweeting pictures of El-Sayed's wife in a hijab on the other. Make the press ask JD Vance to explain the contradiction (incredibly he still hasn't been pushed on this).
If there’s some big political price to pay for highlighting MAGA’s gutter bigotry and bad faith, and Vance’s cravenness in selling out his own family, it’s not showing up in the polls. I’d keep it up until the contradictions become too glaring for anyone to ignore. newrepublic.com/article/2149...
