i genuinely think this is the median right wing voter. they're fucking tired of constantly hearing about transgender people, but they think it's our fault that their media won't shut up about us

Evil Con Fettie@spacebeer.net

BOY WOULD WE LIKE TO

republican voter: "grr my taxes" republican politician: "ARE YOU SICK OF TRANSGENDER MIGRANTS ALWAYS DING DONG DITCHING YOU AT YOUR HOUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT" republican voter: "YES i am. i just wish we could get rid of them all so we could focus on my taxes again"

β€œprotein enriched chocolate chip cookie” is kinda the perfect synthesis of the conflicting american male desires to be a spartan warrior and also five years old

goddamn democrats what's the fucking point of you when you look at the positions of the dem vs republican candidates and it looks just like the republican primary

pretty clear evidence that republicans in the US losing any election going forward are going to always beg for a coup if they lose. lots of people will have to go to jail

i love when terfs call themselves gender abolitionists because when you examine their ideas you discover they genuinely think abolishing gender means abolishing the word gender

so as an adult, i've never actually lived under a conservative government before. federal liberals and bc ndp were elected when i was 17 and 18 respectively. so i can genuinely don't know what to expect, especially from a supermajority. i might lose my transition healthcare if they get too crazy

the "culture war" things dorkson talked about in his victory speech were anti-indigenous. and i think that will mostly go to courts because stuff there has mostly been decided by court already. but conservatives get stupid and bored so we'll see what this means for me personally

my guess: my car insurance goes way up. i may lose my trans healthcare doctor but probably won't lose access to my meds. my family doctor wait time goes up by 3 years.

the handful of die-hard anti-trans voters that exist are going to vote GOP no matter what. so this ad will not pick up a single new voter. all it does is further disenfranchise trans ppl – a marginalized group MAGA hates. this is a pro-MAGA ad & Turek is furthering MAGA's cause by airing it

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

i just can't emphasize enough how valueless and inefficient generative AI is as a product. the companies involved are chasing incremental improvements through exponential costs and everyone who invests everything in this will lose everything

idk about anyone else, but since elon musk is a well-known known liar and fabulist, i find it extremely doubtful what was shown is actually what is described, so it's absolutely more lame than if nissan or GM had done the same

Alex Hern@hern.bsky.social

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

like yes he's a white supremacist but he also famously engages in stock manipulation so it'll take a lot to convince me this wasn't done with magnets or wires or something

exactly this. note that this is how the nazi regime often sold its concentration camps to the public- a place to put the "undesirables" "away". much of the public would accept this ambiguity despite copious signs of mass murder, because the truth made them too uncomfortable.

genuine chance these freaks will try to anoint trump as a god after he dies. it'll be so cool to reinvent roman paganism from first principles as they grasp desperately back to imagined white glory

A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.

i think transphobia is measurably elite ideology. you can see it in the states. when right wing audiences feel economically secure, republicans fearmonger about the transes. but now that nobody in the states except the rich are economically secure, those tactics measurably don't work as well

Billionaire living in a castle calls minority group she is paying hundreds of thousands of pounds of her own money to legislate out of existence β€˜elitist’

poly discourse is weird because when it goes bad it's like, regular relationship drama multiplied by the number of people involved, but when it's good there's literally nothing to say

whenever i see a post that's like "and fuck this person too" my body is immediately puppeted by a gossipy poltergeist to look up if they did something or if it's a personal beef

also - and I have a lot of poly friends - those relationships tend to work a lot better when everyone is happily poly from the start rather than "babe I just discovered sleeping with other people is a fundamental part of who I am" years into a previously monogamous relationship

Martin Concagh@mconcagh.bsky.social

I think it’s a sampling bias thing, if you’re poly and it’s working out fine you don’t need to get your magazine editor friends to publish your article about how it’s all working out fine

polyamory takes emotional maturity and communication that these men just don't have the ability for. it feels like mostly older straight men weaponizing the idea of "coming out" to manipulate their partners into changing the way their relationship works because they want to sleep with other women

Micah@rincewind.run

I’m not going to say that every single dude who β€œdiscovers he’s poly” in his 40s is a dirtbag but let’s just say the track record is less than great

also maybe i'm talking out my ass but i also don't understand polyamory as an identity you can awaken to. like, people might be inclined one way or another but i kinda doubt that any older straight man's inclination towards multiple partners overwhelms his cultural upbringing. he just got horny

You're a chubby AND you're a cis boy? I don't understand. Just be a girl instead! Don't you wanna be a BBW? You're already nice and soft! Just take the estrogen already! Lets be BBWs together and make out!
