Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

Remember in 2016 when the Panama papers were leaked showing that hundreds of global leaders and companies were committing widespread financial crimes and almost nothing was done about it Anyways, lets dive back into these Epstein files which I'm sure will lead to many prosecutions.

Just a warning about Casper mattresses: they do NOT hold up. I’ve had mine for just a couple of years and it was doing fine, but recently got into a Little Nemo-type situation and the bed broke up over the North Atlantic. Ended up needing a Coast Guard rescue and they laughed at my big nightshirt

Reading comprehension is in a terrible state when nearly all the replies are conflating Hanks suggestion that even morally questionable people posting lament over the latest murder means he's entirely in the pocket of Big AI. People are faceted folks. Get off the internet and meet someone.

I remain absolutely furious that all this shit in Minneapolis started because a barely-literate homeschooled mormon made a video trying to run up in daycare centers trying to find people of Somalian descent doing fraud despite the ringleader (a white woman) being in jail since March. Demonic.

So fucking tired of someone posting an unbelievable story with zero evidence and it being up to the receivers to debunk it. No, fuck off. Quit posting bullshit without direct evidence to back it up. And no, "I once had a vaguely similar thing happen years ago" is not evidence of the original story

Glen Taylor owns the Star-Tribune and just made $1.1 billion selling the Timberwolves but the paper refuses to regularly fund his own beat writer's travel to cover that team. He also recently shut down the strib's printing plant, it's now printed in Iowa. Funny how quote tweets are disabled for this

The problem with bootlickers is that there is an unlimited number of boots to lick. Everyone else has licked the wrong boot. Announcing your weapon will "put the cops on edge". Not announcing your weapon will "cause them alarm". Philando Castile, btw.

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

They are scrambling to blame: the new one will be "a responsible gun owner announces their weapons." Bit hard to have a fucking conversation with the people macing and beating you.

one could argue that the issue is they finally did find their spines

it is a sign of the total absence of trump from political decision making that they are letting this guy go out and say stuff that dramatically worsens their political position

… and

Absolutely absurd that this bill is being framed as "Anti-ICE", when in reality it basically just reiterates the requirement of any immigration officer to follow the existing law. Anyways, @nateforutah.bsky.social is out in the community today. Go get a yard sign. nateforutah.com

Sen. Nate Blouin, who wore an “Abolish ICE” pin on his suit coat, said he felt the hearing was a success even though his bill was killed, and that he was heartened to see how many people showed up to support it.

I have spent my entire adult life being lectured by Republican politicians and conservative legal movement types about how important it is to preserve the sacred constitutional right to self-defense of *specifically this person* and then secret police murdered him in the street

Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara says that the victim was a 37-year-old white man and US citizen with no criminal record and that he was a legally permitted gun owner.

Absolutely insane we once considered this guy to be a Vice President. I'm not glad we dodged that bullet considering the alternative, but it's probably for the best this milquetoast bullshit isn't our national leader.

Governor Tim Walz@governorwalz.mn.gov

I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

Senator Amy Klobuchar@klobuchar.senate.gov

Today I talked with police chiefs from across the metro area. This isn’t just happening in Mpls and St. Paul. The 3000 ICE agents are in the suburbs and across our state. The surge is disrupting the work of local law enforcement.

OpenAI has absolutely zero ideas. They have no business. This is not a real business line and it’s so utterly vague and specious, I’m shocked at the credulousness to just print it without saying “there is no logical way this works of course” or talking about how the CFO of OpenAI is saying nonsense

The shadow cabinet idea was a great idea and should have been implemented a year ago. Would have presented an organized, unified response to the chaos, issue by issue, by people with expertise.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

Democrats could act like a real opposition party, refusing to validate Trump malfeasance with votes, and setting up a shadow cabinet that regularly communicates how Democrats would be different. But nah. It’s not only a majority of Democratic voters that hate this approach. US allies see it too.

It's a weird dystopia searching for tech support articles right now. You want a very narrow window of time where the software version is relevant and links are still connected but before AI slop and keyword stuffing blogs pick up on the traffic potential.

I'll preface this with saying that I'm a liberal and think liberalism is good, but the mewling about training from so many Dems is an absurd example of liberal proceduralist pathology.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Chris Murphy: "The amount of training that's given to an ICE officer has been cut in half by this administration. The number of days of training they get are 47. You know why they get 47 days? As an homage to the vanity of POTUS. No wonder the number of violent incidents are going through the roof."

My favorite infographic is a map with three points on it where some similar types of events happened and the caption "All three events happened within this circle! What's going on here?"

I've never done a coup d'état, but I am pretty sure it's advised to assemble a coalition of interim leaders before you depose the existing government. Power vacuums are best resolved immediately, not just quickly. jesus fucking christ.

Love how every child in the US spends 8 years learning primarily about laws by studying the constitution and branches of federal government, but at the end of the day your local city noise ordinances are more impactful to 99% of the population than a piece of paper the president can simply ignore.
