Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

Billions of dollars’ worth of contracts predicting oil would fall and the S&P 500 would rise were placed about 15 minutes before Trump announced a U-turn on Iran in a post on Truth Social. CFTC staff began to investigate...then were told to lay off. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

Ideally, the year you bomb a grade school full of children, and the year you win the Nobel Peace Prize, should be different years

Oh… so words just mean whatever you want them to..?

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

"It could chill rights of contractors to make political contributions" -- unearthed footage shows Susan Collins in 2012 fighting to protect contractors from having to disclose political contributions (we recently learned she was under investigation for a pay-to-play scheme involving a contractor)

A recent survey found that 92% of U.S. adults have delayed or avoided medical care due to high costs. Meanwhile, a new study from Yale estimates that Medicare for All would save over 114,000 lives and $1 trillion a year. If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have universal healthcare.

Sen. Susan Collins helped steer millions in federal defense contracts to Navatek, whose CEO illegally funneled thousands of dollars to her campaign. The FBI sought to launch a probe and was eyeing Collins and other lawmakers. Then Trump gutted the unit in charge. THREAD 🧵

"Holy shit that's a nasty surprise. There are things you expect to cost $500, like a Nintendo Switch, or tix to see Ed Sheeran 2 weeks ago 👀... being able to breathe is not one of them." John Oliver on our broken health care system ☠️ people unnecessarily. #MedicareForAllNOW

Why is dental insurance so useless and why is it separate from medical insurance? Who decided your mouth was just exempt from the rest of your body when it comes to healthcare?

Jared Kushner is not "on the other side of the aisle." He's not an elected official. He's not an administration official. He's the president's son-in-law and a private citizen. You do not, in fact, have to take meetings with relatives of the president. Some might even say you should *not* do that

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Jeffries defends his meeting with Kushner: "I'm of the view that if we're going to be committed to actually solving problems on behalf of the American people ... they're are gonna be times that you have to speak with people on the other side of the aisle. Even people you strongly disagree with."

Peacock just sent me an email. Price hike of 15% next month. Cancelled. I do not get a 15% pay raise every year. I cannot just accept a 15% increase in everything I buy. Inflation is ridiculous.

I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

God already built a wall through Big Bend — it's called the Chisos Mountains. We don't need to give billions of our tax dollars to out of state vendors. We don't need to desecrate this sacred land. We don't need this useless, disgraceful, corrupt Big Bend border wall.

Bay Area friends: would you consider opening your home to these two cuddly cats? A friend found them behind a gas station. Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.

A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

How about we just build one data center? And it’s only job is to figure out how to build data centers that are way smaller..

There are people who “love” work and “celebrate” work?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rollins: "For those who love work and celebrate work and want people to work and not be on food stamps, it's a pretty big win when we've moved 5 million people off food stamps, y'all."

1/ Six rich Texans gave $100M to a group called Texans for Lawsuit Reform. That 💰 built a brand new court system where judges are not elected, they are appointed by governor, specifically so corporations never have to face a jury of regular Texans again. #DV1 #ProudBlue #Voices4Victory #USDemocracy

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has the constitutional authority to temporarily appoint someone to fill Mitch McConnell’s seat. If GOP lawmakers want to challenge that, they can do so. This will be the first big test to see whether Beshear really is presidential material. I hope he passes the test.

As a retired police officer, I would just like to point out that you do not get to kill people for failure to comply, you simply get to add resisting arrest to the charges

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Homan on people getting killed by ICE: "It comes down to one simple fact -- these people failed to comply with law enforcement ... all they had to do is comply. If they did, they'd be alive today."
