This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

As @gabyhinsliff.bsky.social says, you’ll never satisfy the far right. They’ve gone from banging on about EU migrants to attacking people who aren’t white. Whatever happens to the migration stats, the bigots will just keep moving the target. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Was advised to seek the services of a firm accredited with trade association ’XYZ’. Identified a few XYZ accredited, several not—including one boasting on its website that it was ‘proudly *not* XYZ accredited but did have one member of staff who had been XYZ trained’. Unserious ‘businesses’.

Our esteemed Council spent a shed load of money refurbishing the city centre this year. Like many a municipal council, some of it went on planters. Never seen a planter last more than a season yet. Neglect, casual vandalism, misuse as litter bind or ash trays. Sure enough, several…

… are already missing plants that went in only a few months ago. So far, so good. Only today I noticed that two of the failed planters now have Uber-colourful *plastic* vegetation in. Plastic plants. In a ‘prestige’ spot in the city centre.

There can be "no single market a la carte". If Burnham is truly serious about returning to the EU fold there can be no more exceptionalism, no more attempts at cherry-picking. It's time to be honest brokers looking for a win-win. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

A few patriots around these parts are making damn sure we all know what nationality we are and that some of us (the ‘Fallen’) died for the rest. Code Red ‘n’ Black. Back in July or August, just for a moment of carefreeness out in the English countryside, I had indeed forgotten.

Periodically I call for some well defined, well bordered piece of England to be ceded to the brexity flaggeroo crowd. Along with their replica Spitfires, Churchill impersonators, outsize poppies, the lot. The Isle of Wight is perfect. Blighty-Wighty. Generous relocation packages, of course…

… for current IoW islanders not so afflicted. Lesser incentives for immigrants to Blighty-Wighty: crates of warm Full English Breakfasts airlifted in daily; a flagpole each and special licence to fly the Union Jack; a Holy Bible apiece; visa for 36.5 days in every 365 to be spent on the mainland.

Aha. I see that my MP, who declined to support Nadia Whittome’s EDM 240, moving that the EHRC’s draft Code of Practice for services, functions and associations be disapproved, has sent me a survey form asking me to describe any anti-social behaviour I may have experienced. As. If.

“Putin understood us better than we understand ourselves” ✅

Peter The Pensioner@peter1952.bsky.social

At the end of the day the Kremlin didn't cast a vote, it was the millions who could not or would not think it through. Our dismal lack of taught analytical/critical thinking in schools was a bigger problem. Putin understood us better than we understood ourselves. The same still applies.

Still captivated by video of Robert Frost reciting his poem ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’. Being receptive to a moment in Nature. The sheer beauty of the woods forces a rider to pause and his horse to wonder: why stop here? I’m haunted by it.

I will not only be relieved but truly *ecstatic* to be wrong, if more and better studies soon start showing that AI actually improves learning and cognitive motivation. But so far they all show the opposite, and that is consistent with the evidence that I and other educators are seeing on the ground

If there's one groups in society who NEED to stop using AI to make resources, slides, posters, it's teachers. You're literally showing your students that you used AI to do your own homework. You look like a moron. It's shameful. Do not do this.
