This was my reaction too and I don't even know whether the "we" is humanists, women, people with the ability to read, Canadians, fans of Sappho, fans of Emily Dickinson, translators, classicists, or people who appreciate the feelings of sad red monsters. Either way, yes

oh my god we won

Honestly this advice changed my life. "Just say ‘I disagree’." You have do that, but you don't have to do more than that. Don’t make some elaborate argument, don't call the person scum, just make it clear that you don't think like that. And get your mates to chime in, too.

𝗠𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲! 👏 In a Q&A, Mirta Galesic, who co-leads CSH's Collective Minds research group, talked about the best way to respond to hate speech – and why simply saying “I disagree” matters a lot. 👉 www.nature.com/articles/d41... 👉 Collective Minds research group: shorturl.at/xDr30

Am I going to get my free movement back... as a Canadian ?!?! 🥹

Dear @mark-carney.bsky.social, we want to bring the relationship with Canada to the highest level possible. I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to being the first associate member of the EU. And create a common prosperity and economic security space.

Possibly one of the best moments of my scientific life as Swiss astrophysicist Michel Mayor, on his home turf, dons a pair of Ig-Nobel-winning underpants on his head

Have you lived till you’ve watched Nobel prizewinners dressed as mushrooms perform an opera about fungi? NO

The wonderful Ig Nobels of course! This year, lucky for us, in Europe for the first time ever bsky.app/profile/npr....

This reinstatement happened for one reason: a union contract. She was brought back against managements wishes because she won the highest level of the grievance procedure, arbitration. This is how you can take the power back from people like Jeff Bezos: form a union.

BREAKING: After the Washington Post fired me last year for speaking the truth in the wake of the Charlie Kirk killing, I fought back. And I'm happy to announce: I won my case against the Washington Post. They have been ordered to reinstate me immediately. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/24/b...

I'm very sympathetic to the feelings underlying this post, but vaccine-questioning and vaccine-hesitant parents are ALSO trying their best to protect their children. Attacking each other is playing right into the hands of those who profit from anti-vaccine lies ❤️

Jessica Ellis@baddestmamajama.bsky.social

My whole childless life I’ve been told when you become a parent your heart opens up to a new special magical kind of love, apparently a love so strong it will let children die of entirely preventable illnesses.

If we really want to protect children we must learn from research that studies how to build and rebuild trust in vaccines; it's hard work but demonizing parents isn't it (totally understand why people are enraged tho)

Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”

Nine years since I started writing the Nature Briefing, and while searching for the very first issue I found this 😁 Thanks to my dad, my godfather and all the other dads who contact me via the Briefing inbox

GET HEARING AIDS ❤️ stop worrying if they're cool they're like glasses just get them and wear them this one's for the dads out there (except my dad, he's cool and wears his aids)

Should you switch on a fan during a heatwave? The answer depends on both temperature and humidity. "The findings lend support to a simple public health message: Avoid fan use above ~40°C."
